i\'m a bit of an overachiever. i used to get annoyed with my hunting partners if they didnt prep food like i did. i\'m older and wiser now, and have realized that not everyone gets as \"OCD\" as myself. now? i know it really is my issue, not anyone elses. whatever. i raided the grocery store and bought epic amounts.

last night, i crushed my poor kitchen.

i made, \"chinese sticky rice\" (think fried rice, except it is made with sticky rice, like thai sticky rice). you can run an army over the mountains with this carb bomb.

also:
Chipotle beef stew. (had to refrain from eating it all,it was really good and MVP for smelling up my house)
chili.
pasta sauce
and a neighbor made and packaged me some Carnitas.

all in all with random things (deer steaks, etc), i think i have six dinners and a bunch of lunches. sando meat and bread and tortillas. i was doing dishes at midnight..and chilling food on racks in my backyard. it got cold, and now it is in deep freeze.

i\'ll let my buds fill in the food gaps. hunting is hard work!! i think this is the SINGLE BIGGEST BENEFIT of hiring a full service outfitter. i would love the food handled by someone else :)

I have a cousin and a friend that I love to hunt with. They are great cooks and will daily, make a gourmet meal, after we get back to camp. Not me. When I am alone, it is fry this, or open a can of that, and heat er up. I add some salad and have a cup of something to drink. Then it is clean up and off to bed.

Yeah, but prepping for the hunt is half the fun Cliff! I love cooking and prepping meals before the hunt because it at least makes me focus on that and takes my mind off of hunting for a few minutes

I do the same thing Cliff....over and over every trip! Make up a list of all the meals, several grocery store trips and a couple of nights in the kitchen.

But, when you have the opportunity to not eat oatmeal and Mountain House then go all in! After a long days hunt, some don\'t want to cook and I understand that. Given a lot of hunts aren\'t up and down mountains all day, there\'s energy left to make something good. With the sun setting pretty early this time of year you have more time after shooting light.

Just thinking about carnitas and tortillas or tamales and red chile makes the walk back to camp really quick!

Have fun Cliff!
