Between me being extremely bored and prepping for this upcoming year, I decided to see how crazy I can get with my dehydrator.

I am a pretty healthy eater and very active. So I am at the point now where if I eat something processed or really junky, I am feeling it for a while, instead of getting energy.

So this year I want to try different combinations for hunting pack snacks. That way I am constantly full of energy and not dragging because of something I ate.

First up I will try dehydrating bananas.

I know they will not be crispy like banana chips because I think those are fried first, but these should turn out alright.

I was keeping them light and wanted to add a little honey and cinnamon/sugar.
I broke my good bottle of homemade honey, so I had to use store bought

Anyways, we will see how this goes in 8 hours :D

Wish me luck!

Ill dabble with some other fruits first Derek.

I have fresh cranberries from New England in my freezer, I\'ll probably do some pineapple and some oranges.

Next phase will be me trying to make some actual \"granola bars.\"

I have a few recipes so I can make my own yummy snack bars.
If you google love crunch you will see one of my favorite granolas. It\'s a chocolate covers granola that has great health numbers.
I\'ll use that along with some dehydrated fruit of mine and mold them into little bars.

Then I obviously need to do up some of my own jerky and a few other treats!

I am always open for different options.

Speaking of which, I need to go check the bananas.

4 hours into it and they are browning up nice!

I tried one..... then two..... then six......

SO FAR THEY ARE SO GOOD

My favorite fruit is dehydrated apples. I sprinkle cinnamon on them and dry them. I like them better than jerky while hunting.

Terry,

I completely forgot about apples! That sounds so good :upthumb:
Thanks for the tip!

Gary,

I will bring you some :D

I do dried fruit quite a bit with my daughter on the dehydrator. Do some apples as recommended above! They are delicious! My favorite is strawberries, and also homemade fruit wraps. For the fruit wraps I puree apples, bananas and strawberries, add some lemon juice, and spread it out on the plastic tray that came with my dehydrator. It takes a while but they are awesome! Wrap them up in wax paper and throw them in the fridge or freezer.

Strawberries>Apples>kiwi>bananas

Those all sound fantastic! I am not sure I could pull off the fruit wraps, but I will certainly be doing the strawberries, apples and kiwis!!!!!

Don\'t worry Gary, I will save you some. ;)
