I saw this mulie buck this afternoon and he was worthy of a couple pics.
What do you think he will score?

I have never put tape on a mule deer, so I wouldn\'t even know how too score it.

I love all that junk he has on his rack though. Cool buck :upthumb:

Gross score 162. His claim to fame are the mass score on the bases! Not much inside spread for a mulie.

Here\'s some more of him. I think he will go 180+ with all he\'s got and what he\'s going to put on in the next weeks. That\'s the biggest deer I have seen on the hoof, and I see alot off the hoof. We get some good bucks in town but I haven\'t seen one of this caliber! This deer was a half mile from my office and I about sh!t my pants when I saw him!

Matt if he is still there in Oct. would you do me a favor and chase him to the west a couple miles for me, :D

not all that big really missing typical points has extras that would add up but if he makes 165 I would be surprised he is tall and the extras are cool but i don\'t think he would make the book unique deer and the neat factor is going be the real attractant not the score

Tod,

As a whitetail hunter, I don\'t know what a mule deer should have to make him typical or nice.
Can you explain a little bit more please?

I have my first real mule deer hunt this year and the more I know going into it, the better.

Thank you,

Daniel

mule deer should have a pair of forks for the antler configuration. on this bucks left side he is basically missing his g-3 the little stickers off of his g-2 may get counted as a g-3 but it won\'t amount to anything inches wise and his g-4 back side of front fork is really crab clawed so won\'t add many inches there.

a typical looks like this deer much like a white tail points start at base and count up going to end of main beam. see the right antler has a browtine aka G1 then two distinct sets of forks from closest to the guy it then goes g-2 g-3 then g-4 on the front the bottom point is scored as the main beam measurement.if you google mule deer scoring you will see what I mean
