Has anyone used the new Vortex 50mm scope? I have the viper hd 80mm (for sale) and its just too big to use for backcountry archery.  I bought it not knowing that i would be into archery so quickly!  Anyway, was wondering if there are any con's vs my 80mm??

thanks

Nope,  but I sure wouldn't get rid of an 80 if I owned one.  I own a Nikon 60 Fieldscope II with ED glass.....good scope,  but an 80 will really let you pick apart the shadows on the side of a. mountain.

Its just too heavy. Maybe if i knock a few pounds off my pack it might be easier to justify.

Um.... maybe. How about you throw in a pair of sweet Vortex HD Bino's to sweeten the deal?

Yeah, my wife would really understand that one!  ::)

I have vortex binos. I love them. I've always used Nikon the monarchs are awesome, but you can't beat the warranty you get with vortex. From what I understand as long as I don't intentionally damage them vortex will replace or fix and accidents I might have out I the feild with them. That's what all me. Plus they are right up there with the monarchs I think. I know you said spotting scope I'm just giving you my experience with vortex so far.

I sure have used it...MAN I'M IMPRESSED!! Here is a review I did for it... I hope the link works for you?  If not just copy and past the address in a new browser! https://vimeo.com/68758398

too funny, i actually saw that review.  I did purchase the 50mm, and have to say i am very happy i bought it!  Its sooo much easier to carry that around as opposed to my 80mm.  And the clarity is just as good.  Its not as good obviously early morning or evening, but the rest of the time, its crisp and clear all the way to 33x.  I definitely see room for more x.  Hoping to see a 40x eyepiece.
