Hey looking for some opinions on wall tents. I'm kind of leaning towards a Selkirk spike tent. Need something for a basecamp that is a little more roomy than my two man tent.
i use an old gov't. surplus tent, 10x14. LOTS of room for 1 hunter, the camp cook, and the dog. If you take care of the canvas, it'll outlast you....mine's got to be pushing 50 years old, still in great shape.
lodge poles and one mil plastic works too way lighter than canvas you can cut the poles on the spot prop them up for the next season when you take it down.
I have a modular military tent and stove... 19x19'. Tons of space for a big camp, but it takes up a lot of room in the box of my truck. Seems you can find these at a much lower price point than other wall tent options, and the thing is built to withstand a hurricane. Its always worth taking a look at craigslist to see what's available in your area.
I use a Reliable brand 14' x 16' with a internal frame, I love it.
It is a reasonable priced wall tent, I have been using mine for 10 years or so now, still looks like new.
If I ever had to replace it, I would buy another one just like it.
10x14' Kodiak Canvas tent for a small base camp. Reliable in ANY weather, Iv had mine in 50 mph winds with rain. We have a 13x27' Alaknak for a 4 man base camp. But love my Kodiak for family camping
