Water Bladders

Well I have decided I am sick of wasting water by having it drip all over me when I forget to relieve the siphon from my drinking tube.
Does anyone have any advice on a new bladder to stick in my pack?  I would really like to go as big as possible with good quality.

what bladder do you use now?
i use camel pac bladders in everything and most issues i have had are due to my error. iv have never had a leak due to faulty bladder

I am using a camelbak bladder right now that i actually pulled out of a small camelbak backpack.  Mine is leaking due to a faulty valve at the mouth peice.  It just slowly drips down on to my pants as I am hiking.
I really need to get a higher capacity bladder though and if this is not a common issue with camelbak then maybe I will just buy a larger bladder through them.

i have a 2 and a 3 liter  the 2 liter works perfect with my water pump the 3 is kind of a pain  they sell new valves and bite pieces fairly inexpensively i have had crap luck with any other brand my cousin uses badlands with great success  so does my son. thats the only two i would put my money down on iv gotten wet with every thing else

MSR makes good ones. I have a 2lit. for pack and one of the big black ones for camp. The Kevlar one that came with my Eberlestock J104 is the best, never leaks and is basicly indestructable. 2lit.  They both have anti-bacterial bodies.

That looks pretty good.  At $34 it really isnt too bad if it will last me. I think I need the 3 liter.  When my wife/daughter come with me they like to just drink out of mine and when I do longer trips I will be glad I had it.

Does the sleeving on the tube help it from freezing up on you?

How many times did you take it out last year?

Buglelk, that's pretty much the same as mine, minus the flap.  Mine just has the universal wide mouth screw cap that matches my MSR filter.  The hose, bag and mouthpiece are pretty much bullet proof.  It's never leaked, punctured or gotten funky. Mine is almost 8yrs old.

Make sure that a 3lit. will fit in pack sleeve ElwoodUT.
I was going to get one, but it wouldn't fit in sleeve.  Settled for the 4literMSR for camp, inside the pack for long dry days with no source.

Haha good thinking Hank.  Does anyone know the dimensions of this bladder?  I believe I have plenty of room for it to fit but better make sure.  I would be a little upset when I had it full of water and it wouldn't slide into my pack.

i have a sleeve on my tube it has never frozen well below 0 and I sware in the summer it keeps it cool as well

I have the sleeve on my camel bak version as well but the best thing I found to do after using them for years in the military and in the woods is after you are done drinking blow some air into the mouth piece that way they water on the tube won't heat up on you when it is warm and it won't freeze up on you in the cold. Plus you won't have to worry about any leaking all over you

I have another question on bladders. How the heck do you get rid of the plasic taste? I tried everything I could think of last year with mine bleach, baking soda, etc. with no luck. I finally just threw it away.

I had a bladder many years ago with the same issue. Nothing ever helped. I have been using the platypus bladders for a couple years and I have no complaints about the taste.

I own several camelbak's and have never had a problem.  My wife also has a platypus but isn't too stoked on it, mainly because of where the tubing enters the bag.  I'm considering purchasing an MSR dromedary bag because on those cold nights in the mountains, they can be filled with hot water and put in your sleeping bag.  Kind of a nice option if you hunt in colder climates.
