Yea this is under the bow section, but what is your preference when going to the field?

As for me, Archery elk is my first choice. I have a Rifle for Deer and Pronghorn (if I even hunt them). Plus I\'ll probably go Rifle elk every couple of years to fill the freezer, maybe 1st Rifle cow.

What about you?

I have always been a rifle guy. Part of me really wants to get into bowhunting, but the startup cost tends to hold me back. Plus all the guys I hunt with are rifle guys also, which makes it easier.

Archery for all big game. I haven\'t shot at an elk or deer with my rifle since 1991 or something like that. Everything after that has been archery - even rabbits. I will shoot birds with a gun because I\'m not nearly good enough with a bow to kill a pheasant or quail on the flush with one, but maybe one day I\'ll try that too.

Bullnuts, you\'re going to have to change your avatar.

I keep picturing the \"I beat anorexia\"-guy doing the typing of your entries and it just ... doesn\'t ... compute.

I answered archery , but I do still enjoy shooting anything that launches any kind of projectile! Have a bunch of beautiful rifles in the case that hardly ever get outside. That is a shame!

Bill, you might be onto something with a \"ring necks & rage\" event! Anyone capable of fletching up something like 500 flu-flu arrows..& how compatible are they with whisker biscuits? :upthumb:

We actually had Tred Barta out, before he got sick, and he shot a bunch of birds with his long bow and flu flus. I think it would be a lot of fun IF I could shoot a long bow with any kind of consistency.

BTW Deertick - here ya go!

Last time I shot a big game animal with a rifle was around 1985 (a muley buck)

It\'s just too natural for me to have my bow in hand these days.

I would definitely pack a rifle for a coyote or wolf hunt if I ever had the chance.

killed a bull elk in 2007 with a rifle..while i wont say it was easy..it wasnt that hard.

drawing the tag, hiking up a steep mountain, packing the animal out..butchering it in a small stream..HARD!! the rifle shot..meh..not bad.

now i have gone all bow. only bow..i cant seem to get past that drawing a tag part.. finding an OTC elk is pretty damn hard now too!! crazed obsession..it just aint healthy.

archery is my first choice. I still shotgun hunt whitetail here in my home state, only cause archery is closed during shotgun season. It was a long cold winter here in Illinois. My wife said there was something wrong with me (by the way she says that all the time) because I would be out hunting whitetail with my bow and it was -10 degrees outside. Just can\'t get enough.
