Weight Distribution in pack

I have a new Tenzing 6000 and have been getting in shape for this fall. I hike with a 60lb bag of salt in the pack but have been getting a lot of pain between my shoulders and the back of my neck from too much weight pulling back on my shoulders.  Is it because i have too much weight in the pack? (about 75lbs total) or because its not distributed right? I put my sleeping bag in the bottom and all my weight is at the top. I have a 31-32 waist and the hip straps are tightened the whole way and it still seems like not enough weight on my hips. Any solutions?

Make sure the internal frame is up against your back. My oldest son had the same problem with his. When I looked at his from the side I could see a space between his back and the frame. Sent it back to tenzing and they sent him a new one. He has no problems now carrying a heavy load.

It sounds like a distribution issue.  The heaviest objects need to go as close to the bottom of your pack as possible.  They also need centered in the bag and as close to you as they can.  One other issue that is often overlooked is that the Load lifters are adjusted correctly.  Loosen the Load lifters until you have the waist belt and shoulder straps adjusted and tight.  Once they are tight pull on the load lifters until they are snug.

Different packs also fit people different and are uncomfortable no matter what you try. I have gone through three packs until I found one that fit great has functional load lifters and can haul a heavy load and seem like nothing compared to the other packs with half the weight. I feel your pain and hope you get it feeling right.

just got another new tz6000 this year myself had the same issue with 30lbs while i was hiking i couldnt find my load lifters tails. its was a short walk so when i got back i pulled the tails and and tightened them. the issue went away but i wish i would have done it sooner as it screwed up my neck and back

There was a real helpful article in Extreme Elk concerning pack load distribution...I cant remember which issue, but will post when I find it
