Took the boat out today for the first time.

We caught a bunch of wiper and a dandy crappie

I thought it was a wiper?
I\'ve caught them there before
Is it a white bass?
It sure hit and fought like a wiper as it dove and never surfaced

The more I look at your pictures they look like what we call hybrid\'s here.... Cross with striped and white bass... Is that what ya\'ll call a wiper... I know our hybrid\'s fight like you said...

wipers are a hybrid between white bass and stripers, they fight amazingly and are fun to catch. looks like yall had a good time.

Just one crappie!?!? Next time try this. Hook about 15 ft. of line with a balloon on it to the first crappie you catch. Then release it. Crappie are school fish and it will swim right back to the school. Fish around the balloon and you will have your limit in no time.

Wow, never heard of that trick before Bill. Is that legal?

May not be legal but sounds effective... :D :D I\'ve never seen anything in our regs here that says it is not legal..

Actually we were into a school of wiper.
And the crappie was in the same area.

I just may try Bill\'s trick next time~

How deep of lake are ya\'ll fishing???

A set of marker buoys is a great help too... Just drop one when you catch you 1st fish and again when you chatch the next one... Gives you a good idea where they are... :upthumb: :upthumb:

This is what I used to use.... <!-- m --><a class=\"postlink\" href=\"http://www.walmart.com/ip/43300079?reviews_limit=10&wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227032170680&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=77517118848&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=107412789408&veh=sem\" onclick=\"window.open(this.href);return false;\">http://www.walmart.com/ip/43300079?revi ... 08&veh=sem</a><!-- m -->

Mostly reservoirs around here.
They are shaped like a dish with little or no structure except the rip rap near the dam

Prob 20ft out in the middle is all

Do ya\'ll troll or blind cast???? Trolling is how we use to catch crappie in open water situation... That\'s the reason for the marker buoys... Troll thru once and drop and back thru again and drop.. That way you have them pretty well located and can either troll or cast to the school... :upthumb: :upthumb:

Heck I\'m giving up my secrets... :shh: :shh:

I troll around til we get a bite. Then I mark it on an old GPS I keep in the boat [Garmin 12xl]
Then just keep trolling around in that area

That\'s a good way to do it but the visual buoy makes it easier for us...

Never saw where it wasn\'t legal. However I know a bunch of tricks that aren\'t legal. Guess I better not post them here though. :wtf:
