We are inside of 40 days for most archery openers, so what are you doing this week to prep for the upcoming hunt? I will be doing some shooting and I am also hoping to get out and check/move some game cameras. How about you?

I am organizing and packing gear.

Trying to trim weight from my Bivy pack.

Working on the last few maintenance items on the truck to make her ready for the trip.

Shoot the bow some more now that we are out of the 100 plus heat index.

Anxiously waiting for a report from Gary when he returns from a scouting trip later this week.

we put alot of rounds downrange from 100-300 yards (rifle.....) this weekend.

swam about 1/2 mile Sat mid day

last night, went on a 14 mile bike ride.

running tonight.

printing topo maps for the other guys on the trip so they can have a dedicated \"map wall\" like I do in my office.

Shooting in the basement still, going through gear, getting the truck ready (need tire rotation as my last thing), looking at GE trying to figure out the spot I am hoping to go,watching hunting videos, tweaking my homemade bugle tube, praying for a job.

Scouted for my moose yesterday, hiking around 6 miles with 35lb pack. Cardio/weights this morning (repeat the rest of the week). Will do 1 or 2 14ers this week as part of a team building event for work, shoot and then scout again this weekend.

Shoot my bow almost daily. Checked to make sure the 1st, 2nd and 3rd axis of my bow sight is correct. My hunting partner/son is coming down for a visit this weekend and we\'ll go over a lot of finalizing little things for our upcoming hunt.
Exercise everyday, one half hour on a rowing machine and on work days I climb 105 flights of stairs with 32# on my back which takes about 50 minutes.

And counting down the days until we leave, 51.

Dan

Hiking every other day with a pack, biking on off-days. My hiking consists of deep-diving into the details of several difficult-access places where the elk in my area go when the pressure hits, how to get in and out without screwing it up, how to hunt it properly, where they go on their daily travels and why. I carry a hunting-weight pack, and daily distances vary from 3-5 miles, up/down. I am learning so much about my \"new\" area this summer by applying what I\'ve learned the past two years scouting (then later figuring out other guys were hunting there) and hunting (figuring out where other guys don\'t go - bowhunters are like sheep...)

One drainage I\'d spent a month learning is now hosed because the USFS opened a \"closed road\" after having it gated and locked for eight years. I had it figured out and was ready to kill a bull in there. Now I feel like I wasted six hikes in and out of there, except for the fitness part. And I also discovered a GREAT patch of morels for future reference. YUM!!

Its crunch time at work these day with school staff and students coming back very soon.
Days are long and projects getting completed

But last night I took a nice long drive out to the eastern plains and looked at some antelope areas.

Drove about 150 miles and saw some decent bucks

I snuck out to check some cameras this morning. This is in an area that I am hoping to hunt for archery - never hunted it before. Lots of older sign in the area, but still no elk on camera yet. Moved a couple of the cameras to new locations, so hoping things will change a bit. Here are some of the more \'interesting\' pictures I got, outside of a bunch of deer...and yes, this is in the middle of public land with no road within a mile plus...

Took last week off after competing in the PA Train To Hunt challenge. Back at it starting Monday this week. Lots of leg work PT followed by some kickboxing and running yesterday. Daughters birthday today so I probably will skip PT and hit it again tomorrow. Most likely will do some more legs and a couple mile ruck tomorrow.

I\'m starting my \"morning routine\" ... adding shooting and calling (in the pickup on the way to work) to my usual exercise.

Scouting this weekend in a spot that I may hunt in the future ... (actually, just camping ... heh)

And soon: Making my \"Master List\" ... of things that need to get done before Labor Day ... ordering food, vehicle maintenance, fine tuning broadheads, etc.
