What dates are you guys really focusing on this year for deer?

I\'m trying to take Nov 6th-23rd off, but I think the 8th until the 16th will be my best days! :upthumb:

Any time I can get out really.

I am taking off work Oct.28th-Nov 2nd to deer hunt everyday.

I leave for IL on Nov. 6 and have to be home by the 17th. Historically, Nov. 11 has produced more big bucks than any other single day in most Midwest states (based on PnY/BnC entries). I\'m sure this has is a combination of LOTS of people having off for the holiday and it being prime time. I hope to see some GREAT deer killed by BTO guys this fall!

Will has it for Illinois.

I will be off the 6th through the 15th and cant wait.

Where you headed will? I will be in Fulton county for that time-frame

That buck just showed up this week. Crops are almost out so its interesting to see the new deer showing up on cams. With the rut around the corner things should get interesting.

He\'s a great buck to be showing up now ;)

I need to be done by no later than Nov 14 as that\'s when gun season starts, after that the deer are scattered from hell to breakfast.
Since hunt public land, I hear tell that the week before then it gets busy with archers.

Would it be worth it to hunt during then or shall I concentrate on \'getting it done\' on or before Nov 1?

If that is your situation I would be hunting the Oct 31 and Nov 1 weekend.

I know a lot of bucks are harvested on Halloween.

Brad, if I was in your position I would concentrate on the first week of Nov. The last week of Oct. can be good but it seems from year to year to vary while the first week of Nov. is pretty consistent. I think weather may affect Oct. a little more. Shoot, just hunt all of it!

I prefer the first two weeks in November. I worked with a guy who had better luck late in October, and we only hunted fifteen miles apart. It seems to me that earlier in November the bucks will be moving, looking for an estrous doe. Mid-November I tend to see larger bucks, but they are usually being led around by a doe, which is great if you are in the area she wants to lead them through. In this situation theres not a lot a hunter can do to draw the pair in. But if you see that buck by himself several days earlier you can try to grunt or rattle to move him closer. Like any hunting, some days are slow and then theres that one day where everything is coming through the area. And a slow day can become real exciting quickly. My son always says \"you can be having the worst season ever and in a heartbeat it can become your best\". So it pays to hunt whenever you can. Having said all this, I believe I\'ve taken more deer on Nov. 7th than any other day and I generally hunt southern Wisconsin.

Happy Hunting
Dan

Rifle hunting November 18-23 for me ... in Nebraska.

For archery, I prefer the week right before rifle season, but like Brad said, it will be busy on public land. Any time in early November is good, though.

We\'re hunting public land, too, and hoping that the first weekend drives the deer to some hidey-holes that I know about. I don\'t like hunting in a lot of pressure, but when I do, I\'ll plan to use it in my favor!

I\'m hunting Kansas the first week of November so I hope the bucks are cruising then. Good luck to you guys.

Where I hunt in Missouri the first week of November is the time to be in the woods for me. I\'m taking off Nov 4-7th this year. It can start earlier than that but seems a lot more fickle that last week of October, some years can be lights out, other years - dead as a door-nail. 1st week of November - it\'s on!
