What days will you be chasing elk this year?

Early season? Rut? Post?

I\'m hunting September 1-14th!!!!

September 2nd - 22nd for me with a day of driving on each end. It can\'t get here soon enough.

first rifle: Oct 15-19

but I\'ll be in the mountains for a full week prior, acclimating, and NOT BEING IN TX! :)

My group and I will be headed to Colorado after work sept. 9th to the 24th. Going to be my 3rd time there and their 1st time. Good group of hard hunters, looking forward to bring back many great memories and a pile of elk meat.

Or just Aug 27 if I shoot my elk opening day :)
Only one tag this year Brad? Seems like shooting two is just as easy as shooting one for you ;)

Yep but he\'s got the big Alaskan Moose hunt that interferes a bit with his elk hunting this year...

Most likely through out the archery season, starting with opening day. I am still scouting new OTC areas. If I find something appealing, I will be there the first week. I normally do not hunt during the smoke pole season, however, if I have not killed by then, I will be back for more.

None for elk (???) but plan on hunting every day that I can for everything else... :upthumb: :upthumb:

Elk: any days during September 1-14 that I can get off work
Deer: any days during September 15-24 (or Jan. 1-15) that I can get off work

going back to early season again. if im hunting silent elk, there might as well be less hunters spooking them!

Early here, too. Going mid-season last year didn\'t \"up\" my chances much, that\'s for sure!

This year, we\'ll hope to be hunting in good weather, at lower altitude, chasing elk that haven\'t been pressured. I hope to make it back on the weekends if needed or to help others later in the season.

Sept 10 - 25th elk and bear
Have a dilemma kinda for first 2 weeks

Limited elk license unit is 6-6 1/2 hours each way. Using 2 weeks of vacation on end of season so a weekend hunt is kinda out of the question. Maybe 20 years ago I could\'ve left after work on Friday, drive straight through, hunt Sat and Sun and drive back in time for a couple hours sleep before work. If I got an elk, that all would change drastically.

Have access to private land that\'s only 2 1/2 hours away and can get a landowner voucher bull tag(type B) or an OTC cow archery tag.

Having my limited tag and not being able to hunt it is going to kill me. Not hunting at all those first 2 weeks may be more than I can take!!

Russ: You have drawn a once in a lifetime tag in the top unit in the state of Colorado. If I were in your shoes, I would beg, borrow, steal, or trade for at least another extra week of vacation. Maybe even pay it back on a two for one bases. I\'m willing to give up most of my Limited tag time to help you out in any way I can.

Bill, that\'s an incredibly generous offer and we\'ll know more as season gets closer.

Unfortunately with my projects at work, I doubt I can get off any extra time. Could likely take an extra day around Labor day weekend and get in a few days.

Still have a few months to come up with options and work on my \'cough\'!! :)

PROJECTS... WHAT PROJECTS.... :D :D

I\'m 70 years old, on oxygen ALL the time, can\'t walk the dog without getting out of breath and I would do everything I my power to make that \"once in a lifetime\" hunt if it took my last breath...

SOOOO.... Project will be there when you aren\'t.... This hunt is a ONCE in a lifetime adventure you should enjoy to the fullest... :upthumb: :upthumb:

Just my humble opinion.... :D :D
