What did you do......

I stay in shape all year not just for elk hunting but that\'s definitely what I think about while running or hiking. I\'ve been chasing lions (no dogs) and pronghorns both of which are WAY harder to kill with a bow than an elk. I\'ve also been upgrading some gear and studying some new areas planning future hunts

Exercise, studying Google earth for new possible draw units, and picking all of your guys brains for more knowledge.

Worked on a new load for the rifle, installed a new scope (Christmas gift :D ), starred at some topos of the area I am probably going to be hunting this year, trying to find new spots that pop out at me.

Keep working out, increased my pack weight to 70lbs for hikes. Called in a couple of flocks of turkeys on Christmas day to practice drawing on with my bow in the event I get to call in a bull next year. Incorporated some weight lifting into my work outs as well as some sit ups (hate those)! Keep reading on elk habits.

Added intervals to my training on the treadmill and increased the incline to 10%. Added new exercises to work more muscle groups. Continued shoulder exercises at a higher weight to help with holding my bow at full draw. Shot bow at outside walking range. Researched side stabilizers which will reduce torquing bow with quiver on.

Went to the doctor for a running injury, lifted at the gym, rode the stationary bike, shot my bow, messed around on bing maps.

I have been reviewing G.E. and contour maps, and talking to others about places of interest. I have a coupe of areas mapped out, and am looking forward to scouting them.

Would these places of interest be, oh say my direction? :) Send me your thoughts and I\'ll :upthumb: :downthumb: them. Might save you some time scouting.

I have been looking over your area/vicinity. There are some definite possibilities. I want to go out some weekend in June and look things over.

I wouldn\'t get too close Swede...at least don\'t let John know if you do, or that tree stand picture could come true!

I\'m working out regularly ... and working at work to, um, pay for the opportunity to get out and hunt.

Google Earth is getting fair use, and one of the Christmas gifts I bought came with a free upgrade to the \"Elite\" Trimble Outdoors maps ... pretty cool, and I\'ve got some new ideas for secondary areas now.

last week.... checking on here regularily. started hiking with 50#s in the pack sunday. my new running shoes came in the mail today, so i can start running again. which i need to do since i just signed up for a couple of half marathons. first 1 being on st pattys day. the cold is getting to me, so when the kiddos go back to school from winter break, i will starting shooting the bow at the indoor range.

For Christmas I gave my new son-n-law a Slip system with the cow butt shell and a nice camo rain jacket. I also padded my wife\'s gift card to Kohl\'s a little heavier than usual so when I start ordering MORE elk stuff she\'ll be hard-pressed to complain!! I thought a LOT about working out but had to be realistic.
