You have all heard them, but what is yours.

Was nature calling and in the middle of it your animal stepped out?
Was it the first minute of opening season and you dropped your biggest animal?
Let us know about your wildest/oddest/most interesting kill.

I actually have a lot of them, but I am going to go with my first bow kill ever.
I was whitetail hunting Massachusetts and I was on an absolute mission.

I started on a Monday and everyday until Thursday I was in my tree stand every legal minute. I was glassing and looking at the maps/terrain, kept adjusting my stand placement and kept getting close and closer. Monday I saw deer about 100 yards out, but they passed me. Tuesday I moved close to where I saw them and more deer came from about 60 yards out, so I adjusted again. Wednesday I sat through 12 hours of rain and 33 degree weather. I had no rain gear on, but I toughed it out. Ended up having a buck and a doe come in at 25 yards, but I couldn\'t get the shot off.

SO here it was. Wednesday night, I am driving home and I am pumped because I knew tomorrow I was going to kill a deer. I found a great spot, I had them patterned, now it was on.

Well, I went out to dinner that night with my family, woke up at 3am Thursday morning, get ready and I am just about to walk out the door when it hit me....

WHERE ARE MY TRUCK KEYS.............
You see my sister had driven me to the restaurant, and like a DUMBY I left my keys on the table at the restaurant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I look up online and see GREAT, THEY DONT OPEN UNTIL 11!!!! RAGEEEEEEEE

So I sit there counting down the minutes, wait for them to open, run in with my hunting gear on, grab my keys and race an hour north to where my stand is. I end up getting to my parking spot at 1:00 in the afternoon because of TRAFFIC and I was VERY MAD. I just trudged through the woods, stomping, huffing, and not caring about noise.

I get to the base of my tree and look down at my bow. At the time I first started out I had feathers instead of vanes.... guess who had destroyed two of his arrows feathers because of him angry walking......

So now I am late, I have one arrow, and I am just steaming.

SO I climb up my tree, strap my harness, pull up my bow and I hear \"crack\".

Mind you I have not even untied my bow or put on my release yet, but I turn around and there is a buck coming in to me.....

I have my back turned to him, so I untie my bow, put on my release, knock my arrow, draw back and the rest was history.

It was during the rut and he must have heard me making all of that noise and climbing the tree.

SO yeah, that is my odd victory story.....

Let\'s hear yours!

One of a few I\'ll share:

My wifes birthday is Nov. 1st. I always try to go the the cabin in Buffalo Co the first weekend/week in Nov. One year her birthday was on Fri. We had talked about me going hunting that weekend, but I didn\'t mention it at all on Friday, that was her day. A nice dinner and a movie and back home around 10:30. As she starts getting ready for bed I start packing. \"WHAT are you doing?\"
\"I told you I was going to the cabin to hunt,\"I say.
\"But not now?!?!
\"I want to hunt in the morning\",etc, etc, etc. The \"discussion\" lasted until about 12:30 until she said with some volume \"Fine, go.\"
2 1/2 hr drive later I wheel into the cabin and two hours later I walk out to a stand.
I haven\'t been down there to scout so when i get to my stand I take a minute to make a mock scrape and put out scent. I climb into the ladder stand and pull up my bow. As I strap on my release I hear crunch, crunch, crunch getting louder and louder. I quickly nock an arrow as a very mature buck walks under my tree at about 5 yds. The deer is uphill on a very steep hill, so when I draw back he\'s only about 12-15 ft off the end of my arrow and my whole sight covered his chest. SMACK! Heart shot with a 40 yd blood trail on a 130\"+/- 9 pt.

I\'m positive he heard me walk in and make the scrape and came to check it out.
Time in stand, 1 minute.
Time of drive, 150 min.
Time of \"discussion\", 120 min.
Time of sleep the night before, 0 min.

I did stay the rest of the weekend to fill a doe tag and let her relax the facial muscles a little :agg:

I\'m sure thankful she likes venison, that has saved my hide more than once.

Hahah the 1 minute in the stand hunts are the best.
They are almost surreal, but very exciting.

The best past is when you\'re at a camp.
Kill it early, get home and butcher it, nap time, then have fresh heart and tenderloins cooking for everyone.
