Just thought I would get everyone's opinions on their favorite elk call. So let's hear it! What is your go to elk call or calls?

On our 2012 self guided elk hunt in Colorado the Primos Hoochie Mama called in numerous bulls for us.  We ended up taking three 5x5 bulls with the 4th member of our hunting party missing.  We had no luck at all with any of the bugles we tried.

To be honest, whichever call the elk are responding too. I Cary multiple reeds with me in the field and take multiple bulges on the trip. I have hunted areas where I get no response with one call but then change and for some reason they like the sound of and respond. The hardest part for me is not changing bulges just because I like the sound of the one I'm using.

I carry the pack bugle tube with the blue reeds from Primos but i also take a pocket full of diaphragms so that i can pop the top off and blow different sounding bugles at them and switch to cow calls in a flash. love the hoochie mama and some of the reed calls as well. lets face it like a turkey hunter we probably all carry to many calls to the brush but when they hit on that one and start breaking the distance man who cares  ;D

I fully agree with fullabull.  I always try multiple calls until I find a willing bull to respond.  But with that being said my old faithful is the Cow Talk by Elk Inc.

The All-Star idaphragm combined with the new EXTREME Bully Bull tube, with a Temptress cow call is a deadly combination for our crew....

Definitely the mini master, all star, and raging bull with the bully bull tube.  Also love the who's yrr daddy.

I've been using the same type mouth reed for 20  years. Carlton triple reed and single.
I use a great bugle tube I got from a local guy. He makes them himself and they sound great.

I have used the original Cow Talk for quite a while with good results. Puts out some good "Mews". It was one of the first Elk calls made. From Don Laubach out of Gardiner,MT.  Just bought some replacement bands last season.

I haven't mastered the diaphram calls when it comes to elk hunting...so my "Go to" cow calls are the temptress cow call and the imakadabull crazy cow call, and I will occasionally throw out a hootchie mama. As for a bugle...Elk inc's Power Bugle is the one I can make the most realistic bugles with and let me tell you...It reaches out to the bulls. I would love to master the diaphram calls, but until then...I use what works for me! Aim small and shoot straight!!!

steve chappell reed calls along with the other reed calls you can buy at elk101. I carry a multiple on my person with backups in the pack. Though out the day I will switch them up and experiment. I also carry the bugling bull.

I'm going to say I don't own it yet.  I have a Primos baffle bugle.  I want something different.  I have had some recommendations like the one sold here or an elk chuckler?  I have been a turkey hunter for most of my life and am very picky about what's in my vest.  Mainly use custom calls and have to order as the stuff I like is not sold at retail stores or Bass Pro.  I'm looking for that kind of elk call.  Any recommendations?
Also what diaphragms in conjunctions with what tube?

Love my elk101.com "All-Star" diaphragm! The Temptress is my favorite external reed call, and the ole' Bully Bull grunt tube has worked wonders.  I hope to get my paws on the new 'Extreme' grunt tube soon to give it a whorl! By the way...this is a GREAT deal for anyone looking for some SWEET calls!  mailto:http://www.elk101store.com/servlet/the-156/elk101.com%2C-elk-call%2C-elk/Detail
