I\'m sure you love ones have asked, or will be asking, what gift you have your eyes on.
What piece of gear are you looking at that won\'t break the budget?

A fully trained black lab that is EXACTLY like the one I had back in the 80\'s, 90\'s and 2000\'s was... Lost that un in 2003   after 15 good years...

He even has several duck killin\' holes in the woods named after um... :upthumb: :upthumb:

I am thinking about asking Santa for another trail camera. They are always handy scouting tools and you can\'t have too many. I will ask for a cheap one since I don\'t need to get pictures of great quality, and I feel better when someone rips off an inexpensive one.

Another Cabela\'s gift card would work for me to add to my collection of them. I have several already. And who knows, maybe I\'ll see something that strikes my fancy there someday.

Swede, let me tell you something I have learned about cheap cameras. If the picture quality was the only thing about them that was not very good they would indeed be great for your intended purpose, however such is not the case. Reliability, unfortunately goes hand in hand with cost! I would think that in using one for elk, reliability would be even more important than for whitetails where I can drive within a few hundred yds from most of my cameras. Do your research and you can find middle of the road cameras for low prices sometimes.
Exactly what dates would you use them? Maybe you could use some of mine. I got a bunch!

Thanks Mainehrdr. I agree with you. I have had one Tasco go bad on me in the field. I use the cameras only in the summer, so that may work in my favor. My friend has a Cuddeback camera. It soon went bad after he used it about two seasons. I have found that the cheap cameras do not have much range, and they have a slower trigger speed. I use them at water holes only. I would love to get another Reconyx. The Reconyx people are great to work with. Needless to say, they are not cheap.

Really don\'t need anything but there is a lot of stuff that I want. Very tempting to go to Cabelas for black Friday they have some sweet deals. Just don\'t know if I could stand to be around all the idiots at 5 in the morning.
