hunting mulies with a muzzleloader for the first time this year. what should i look for to find mulies. game trails, meadows, high country, etc. any tips would be appreciated

Some of the best mulies I have seen were in clearcuts that were about 2 years old.
Not fresh ones

Depends where you are hunting. Like cnelk said if you are hunting timber look at the edge of clear cuts. They also really like sagebrush hillsides on the edge of timber. Where I hunt we really look for draws/ravines. We get above them in the dark and wait for them to feed out of them into the flats. They seem to really like to bed on sides of the ravines.

The two years I\'ve been out in the woods looking for animals we have found the most deer in the aspen groves that are in the middle of a pine forest. The aspens are usually low in a small valley...and the one consistent thing I\'ve noticed about all the aspen groves where we\'ve found numerous deer is that they all ran north/south. I haven\'t had the luck of finding deer in the east/west valleys.
