Whats your camo style?

I am not too picky. I try to stay away from some that have too much dark in them. I like Realtree AP. I use Realtree Max1 out west on top and military BDU bottoms. I like the 50/50 summer weight bottoms. They are warm enough for me and dry quick when wet from morning dew or rainy wet grass. I hunted with someone who wore the BDUs on top and bottom and when we regrouped after a cold calling setup he was difficult to spot if he didn\'t move. He wore the old woodland ones. My late season whitetail coveralls are in the Realtree Advantage pattern.

It doesn\'t matter what the color is as long as it is broken up and you don\'t move when the animal looks at you.

Heck even blue jeans and a white tee shirt work if you get behind some brush to break up your pattern. I like thet trail cam pic of Dan and his deer.

Not too worried about it really. It seem like if I buy some I lean to mossy oak.

I\'ve got some nice clothing but its not any more effective than some dark carharts :upthumb:

I\'ve always preferred Mossy Oak, especially the old Mossy Oak Treestand from the late 80s. I\'m not too picky though, my Eberlestock X2 came in a patten called Western Slope and I thought it was nice but I haven\'t found any clothing with that pattern. I also have a few shorts by King\'s and the pattern is Mountain Shadown that I like. My grandpa and I killed turkeys in blue jeans and woodland T-shirts back in the 80s. I\'ll wear anything I can get a good deal, for me it\'s more about $$$ instead of looks. I think all of it will work.

My experiments with Camo and the ability to break up the human outline have led me to the conclusion that broad and contrasty patterns simply work better, especially at a distance. So I\'ve become an ASAT fan.

As far as my own camo designs for Slipcovers, I\'ve modifed several of them so they have more contrast, and less detail.

I don\'t really worry too much about it when hunting elk...motion is way more important than camo IMHO.

Glad you ask what is our favorite instead of what really works.

My personal favorite is Max-1 because there is sagebrush everywhere, even in the mountains. And the pattern blends in just about everywhere.

What really works though is movement or the lack of it!

Contemporary What\'s Handy. I am more concerned with how it fits and how suited it is for the weather, than camo pattern.

Mossy Oak Bottomland is what we wear mostly duck huntin\' but I too believe it makes little difference since we used to kill ducks wearin\' darker colored regular clothing... I guess me and Swede think alike...

The Advantage Max 4 pattern is what I have found to work best for the mountains. I know it is technically a marshy look, but I feel it works better than the darker mossy oak or realtree patterns that are more Midwestern. Not that camo matters too much to me, but I go for any advantage I can :D

Have any of ya tried or even heard of NatGear camo??????? I use it when it gets really cold since it\'s the warmest I have... We still kill ducks when I\'m wearin\' it but it is a really light color tone kinda like that outfitter camo Cabela\'s sells...

Hears the jacket I wear sometimes... <!-- m --><a class=\"postlink\" href=\"http://www.mackspw.com/Item--i-NAT163S\" onclick=\"window.open(this.href);return false;\">http://www.mackspw.com/Item--i-NAT163S</a><!-- m -->

Well you all know I love my patent pending hunting camo, the jeans and white t shirt.

For real though. I have an assortment of very basic stuff.

I have a wide range from my uniform pants (OCPs), wool cabelas pants, Under Armour stuff, and come cabelas camo.

I have not spent a lot on buying top of the line top. I like dark colors and I like stuff that semi breaks me up, but in the end all I really care about is having the wind in my face and low movement.

If I had the money I would spend it on kryptek, I really like their patterns. I will just never pay their prices unless I find a good deal.

Phil,
I have a NatGear rain jacket I strap on my pack. I like it alot - the pattern and the water repellent

Something like this.

Swede, hate to say it but the pic of you in your stand contradicts your last post! That black furry coat looks very expensive but also quite heavy!

I think maybe I have found your reason for decreasing opportunities from your current hunting area. The camo we wear is meant to help us blend in with our surroundings but yours seems to have more of a predator appearance! I also have a few more observations but I think you get the drift!

PM me if you would like to hear my ideas for you to improve your odds of success from a tree stand! I\'m here to help

Predator green deception for me. I have had animals look right through me at very close range with that pattern. I will probably never change.

I\'ve had animals look right through me no matter what I was wearing. Being still like a statue is the key.

But for camo patterns, +2 for Max 1
