When do you set out your trail cameras?

Well if we had elk here I'd put them out now. I just put out a couple cameras over some mineral sites last week.

I have a question  (not to high jack your thread)- Do you guys use minerals for elk?

Rich Z,

Several states allow the use of minerals (salt, Trophy Rock, etc). It is a great way to attract animals, just be aware of the state's laws relating to placing bait and/or hunting over/near bait.

I have a couple set out right now, but will wait to see if I drew a tag before setting anymore out in OTC units.

Trace minerals have always worked alright for me to get them to stop in front of it, and even chicken scratch. Apples really get their attention, but I have found that if they will walk right by on some days without even stopping.

Im looking to set out some here in idaho in the next week.  Is it legal to place a mineral block out for photography purpose or am i better off looking for trail and wallows?

Heres a couple of the biggest bull I have gotten on camera so far.

Arrows4elk that is cool.
I put my Cameras out in June. Mainly because thats when I can get into where I hunt.
I would post pictures but I cant on this sight for some reason

Getting ready to put out my cameras tomorrow. A little later than my usual first week of June, but I know that if I wait until July I feel like I'm behind the curve.

put em out as soon as the snows down enough for them to get in. as for minerals, salt and trace minerals with selenium. for some reason the elk love the trace mineral with selenuim. also known as a horse block.
