When does it start?

As we all know, there is always a winter lull. We\'ve been beaten down by the hunting year before, the holidays hit, the weather gets wild and elk always seem to fall to the back of your mind. (not all of us at least  )

My question is when does it really start eating away at you again?
Is there a certain month?
After submitting an application?
Etc?

I start thinking about it on the drive home from the hunt but it really gets going for me after spring turkey hunting is over. My next hunt is elk. :upthumb:

I\'m bringing backstraps, so that might ignite the fire a little bit earlier ;)

Since I started elk hunting, I don\'t think a single day goes by that I don\'t think about elk hunting. My wife says I\'m obsessed, I tend to think she maybe right :D

I\'m similar in that I think about it all year. I got really excited once the big game brochure came out as it makes me think about finalizing plans for this year. It will start to get really bad by August. At least this year I don\'t have to wait until October to be in the woods :upthumb:

When I was able to elk hunt I never stopped thinking about it and how to improve my hunting approach... :D :D

Now, it wander\'s through my mind from time to time... Mostly when I\'m awake but sometimes when I\'m asleep also...

Me, too! Plus, elk season is on my mind every time I shoot my bow, which is 2-3x per week, year-round.
