Around what times do you find calves starting to drop?

Do they close areas down during that time or recommend you not go hiking in certain areas?
We have a few WMAs that they don\'t let people access during \"calving periods.\"

The general calving period is from mid May through mid June. Logging used to be restricted in a few areas, but that was back in the day they actually logged on the National Forests here in the PNW. Now I don\'t think there is enough logging going on there to disturb the most crippled up old cow. I just wonder if some guy and gal, out in shorts and tennis shoes, can make enough noise to be a problem.

Yes I would say end of May into first part of June. Right as all the lush feed has grown !! Feed momma and she feeds baby.

Mid-May into June.

Yes they close hiking trails near Colorado Springs. It is designated on some maps.

For areas further away from high population areas, sometimes I see road closures. I don\'t know if the road closures are as needed or yearly since I don\'t see them designated on maps.
