Thought this was an interesting article from Elk101.com(Corey Jacobson) regarding this year. Makes it sound like the last 2 weeks of archery season in CO could be rough with full moon and rut.

Archery elk season is only something like 30 days long. Hunt every chance you can! Hot weather has a much greater effect on elk than the moon phase.

Actually, I like hunting during the full moon. It makes it much easier to get around before daylight getting to my hunting spot without the use of a flash light.

Same week as always: The one I can get away from work.

This year, it\'ll be the first week. I would prefer closer to the rut, but I\'ll focus on being hopeful for the good weather and unpressured animals that are the key \"Pro\" arguments for first week.

I read that article, and I think it\'s time for people who believe that there is a strong influence of the moon to come up with a better mechanism for its effects than \"it\'s light at night so they feed more\". And I don\'t see it.

I have to agree with Bill on both of these things. In my experience, the full moon stuff doesn\'t matter near as much as people give it credit.

Exactly. And what happens when there is cloud cover? The whole thing is kind of silly IMO.

Elk and deer can see better at night than mos critters... ;) ;) Enough said there...

I LOVE HUNTING THE FULL MOON!!!!! Ol\' secret reveled... :D :D

Like Bill said I can get around better in the dark and kill just as much, if not more, when the bright night sky is glowing...

LAST SECRET.... I look more at the \"moon high and moon low theory\"... :shh: :shh:

I\'m getting older and don\'t mind passing on a few tid bits of information I\'ve learned over the years... :D :D

It\'s just like when we are duck hunting... I suggest this and the kids do that... But seems like we most of the time end up doing this later... :haha: :haha:

I have heard that when the moon is directly overhead or under foot the animals are more active. This does seem to correlate with the peak fishing and hunting times on most calendars. I will have to pay attention this fall and see if has any truth.

The simple fact is the animals are always out there, somewhere, you just have to find em.

Well, at least I have an excuse if I don\'t kill anything this year.....dang full moon.
