You know me, I am always trying to give away more stuff and doing it in unique ways!
So lets try another random and hopefully enjoyable contest.

Members are allowed 1 entry per person.

To enter this contest, please respond with:

1) Your favorite thing about BTO
2) Your favorite memory from hunting
3) One personal goal for the year
4) A personal tip, no matter how big or small, that people can use to be a better hunter

I will run this for 10 days and close it Jan 24th at 1800 CST.
All members who respond will have their name entered into the magic bowl of destiny. (Did I get that correct, Cliff?)

Now the fun part.............. I will send a package of steaks to the winner from Omaha steaks.

Oh yeah!

Here is a link to Omaha Steaks for your viewing pleasure

I am doing this even though I want no part of winning...steaks are for you all!

1) Your favorite thing about BTO: The members. You guys and gals make this place what it is. Whether you are the person who posts multiple times a day or one time a month, I love the camaraderie and the love of hunting that we all share.
2) Your favorite memory from hunting: Would have to be my first hunt, which happened to be an elk hunt. A 12 year old who had no idea he was walking into a life long passion...or did I??? ;)
3) One personal goal for the year: Get myself or one of my hunting buddies within shooting distance of an elk...with a bow! Something new :D
4) A personal tip, no matter how big or small, that people can use to be a better hunter: Patience, patience, patience and persistence, persistence, persistence. You hear people say it every year, but it is so true. Your hunt can change from the worst hunt ever to the best ever in a split second. This year, after being told by the local warden that the majority of the elk had moved from our area, I stuck with it and decided to go glass anyway at dusk. Low and behold, I was able to glass a bull at last light. I stuck with it, glassed him again in the morning, and punched my tag on him shortly afterwards. Stick with it no matter what!!! :upthumb:

Baby Huey love steak!

1) Your favorite thing about BTO: Learning different methods to hunt elk from the other members. We all have different styles that work, and we can learn and build on those to add to our hunting toolbox.
2) Your favorite memory from hunting: Giving up my hunting time to help my family and close friends on their hunts. When I read that question, there were many memories that ran through the rolodex, and overall it is really the camaraderie with my hunting group.
3) One personal goal for the year: I gained 20lbs since October 2015 - need to lose that plus 5-10lbs more.
4) A personal tip, no matter how big or small, that people can use to be a better hunter: When in the thicker timber, aspen, etc. use your binoculars! Even though you can only see say up to 100-150 yards, you will be surprised at the parts of animals you will see when you use your binos.

I\'ll offer to take Derek\'s steaks if he wins!! :)

1) Your favorite thing about BTO - Vast amount of knowledge on nearly every topic imagineable plus willingness of members to share and help out if you\'ll just ask.
2) Your favorite memory from hunting - quail hunting with my Dad when a kid. We didn\'t have a dog so just walked our property which held a couple coveys. They\'d let you step right on them before taking off - scare the be-geezus(sp?) out of me every time!
3) One personal goal for the year - get in better shape as I should have a very important hunt this fall and need to be on my game.
4) A personal tip, no matter how big or small, that people can use to be a better hunter - remember to \'follow-through\' on your shot no matter rifle or bow. My focus is on keeping my pin/cross hairs on the target through the shot which generally means I don\'t know exactly when my bow or rifle will go off so keeps me from punching the trigger.

1. Having my horizons expanded. When I decided it was now or never to hunt elk I realized quickly that I needed to utilize every option available. The search for knowledge led here! (A serpentine trail)

2.My first kill with a friends bb gun when I was in the second grade. My Mother saying that she had told me that Robins were off limits. I remember replying that the breast on this bird was Rust, not Red!

3. Seeing to it that a friend gets his first turkey with a bow.

4. Pay attention to detail! Often the small, overlooked things can have a large impact on success rates.

Just bring the steaks by in April!

1) I really enjoy the members on this site and everything they bring to it.

2) This one is tough as there are so many.... I would say my Wyoming archery bull that I called in and had one of my sons sitting right next to me when I killed it. Having this bull come right in screaming back at me and coming through the trees was unreal. Having my son sitting by my side and helping me pack out the bull is something we both will never forget.

3) Getting in shape and losing 10 to 15 pounds.

4) Enjoy yourself, take a moment and look at your surroundings and take lots of pictures. Early on when hunting I would worry about filling my tag and really would worry more about that. Now i have fun, look at whats going on around me and take it all in. The destination is the goal, but the journey is the enjoyment.........

Not saying I wouldn\'t eat them! I\'ll just leave the winning to forum members :D

Thanks again to Dan for doing this

1. For me it is hard to pick a favorite things. There is a lot to like here, but I will go with the kinship I feel with everyone.
2. My favorite hunting memory is even harder. I have a lot of great memories, but I will go with my first tree stand kill with my son near enough to hear the commotion and see the elk leaving the site.
3. I want to find a new hunting spot or learn a substantially new hunting trick.
4. Never let yourself get discouraged and quit. You may need to move elsewhere, but don\'t give up until the hunt is over.

Dan: If per chance I win, please find a poor Hispanic family in your area, and donate the steaks to them. I would be pleased too if instead of Omaha steaks, you gave them a gift certificate to a local grocery store.

1) The folks that hang out here... :upthumb: :upthumb: :upthumb:

2) The 1st duck I killed while hunting with my best friend (dad) a long time ago.. :D :D

3) To be able to hunt again one more time... :dk: :dk:

4) Be patient and take the time given to you to enjoy each and ever moment... :dance2: :dance2:

I\'ve really glad I\'ve had a bunch more #2\'s (memories ;) ) between then and now...

I can absolutely do that.

To enter this contest, please respond with:

1) Your favorite thing about BTO
The generosity of the people here. I\'ve received some amazing offers from members, both hunting gear, meat, and advice.
2) Your favorite memory from hunting
The first hunt I was on with my son. Three years ago we were both on our first hunt together, ever. It was such an amazing feeling being out there doing something so new to us both. I remember seeing his smile a LOT on that first trip.
3) One personal goal for the year
To relax more, hunt smart, and hopefully get an elk.
4) A personal tip, no matter how big or small, that people can use to be a better hunter

Don\'t put so much pressure on yourself to kill an elk. Enjoy the hunt! Also, don\'t put camo tape on your windicator bottle. You will be kicking yourself if you happen to drop it.

And the winner is......... (drum roll!)
