Winter has arrived

The recent weather looks as tho most will be experiencing winter very soon.
Since Off Topic has a campfire emblem, I thought it best to start a general thread that can last thru the winter months.

There is no set subject, just what ever you want to chat about

The fire has started and getting warm.
Who is next?
 
We have two seasons around here. We get a short dry spell that we call Summer and the other which is just wet. The wet season has set in. We usually get some snow when a cold front drops down from Alaska. I guess that will be Winter.
 
Winter ... time to get the cc-skis out, maybe the snowshoes ... it\'s that or bourbon during the dark months. I think we\'ll get one more blast of warmer air before the tough stuff sets in.

I don\'t mind winter so much, or at least I don\'t mind the change. Time to be indoors a bit more, and get some reading done, organize gear, repair things, and ... the best ... make plans for 2015!

And 2016, 2017, and 2018.

I like planning more than just about anything ... so we\'ll call this the Planning Season.
 
Pulled the batteries out of my GPS and Steripen...time to retire them for the Season. Couldn\'t seem to make it out for the Fall Turkey Opener...too many other irons in the fire.

With a full freezer...shifting my focus a little from hunting, to music lately. :D

I\'d say winter is here now. 7 degrees today with steady snow since 9am.

Time to start tying flies for next springs BWO hatch.
 
It got here two weeks early this year. The first lake froze over yesterday. Will be ice fishing by turkey day. Still chasing whitetails with the smoke pole.

Not fun stuff. I think we\'ll get at least one more reasonably warm spell ... but when?
 
it\'s behind here!! i love the colder season..but honestly, our winters here are like a \"sweater day\" for some of you guys.

we did finally get rain. nothing to knock back our drought conditions here. i\'m slightly bummed. i was gonna hike in to check my hog pig cameras. planned to take my wife with me to get her out..but the rain will probably mess up the stream crossings..for her. i dont mind trudging across, but i feel bad when she gets soaked.
 
Started last weekend and will try to get a few hours in each weekend until the boat ramps are shut down at some of the metro reservoirs. Taking my little Jon Boat out and marking spots on my handheld GPS of likley walleye structure for ice fishing...

John, I would gladly trade you some of our warmth for some of your cold. We are hurting for cold storms out here...glaciers are sloughing off the side of Mt Shasta. Unfortunately, it looks like this Arctic wave (Polar Vortex)?? is going to completely miss us again. :downthumb:

John, I would gladly trade you some of our warmth for some of your cold. We are hurting for cold storms out here...glaciers are sloughing off the side of Mt Shasta. Unfortunately, it looks like this Arctic wave (Polar Vortex)?? is going to completely miss us again. :downthumb:

We need to set up one of those \"house trades\" for a couple weeks. You like snow and cold and I like warm and the ocean. Come January you can have my share of -20 and 3\' of snow. I\'ll \"let\" you. pm me :D

Lol, Barry I would actually consider that if I had the time and money...I\'m getting tired of snowboarding on man-made snow the last couple years! :problem:
 
Gol\' darn it now you got me thinking. Tom n Jerry\'s, Hot Toddies, Hot buttered Rum\'s, Mulled Wine, Mmmmmm. I\'m not a big drinker, but they\'re all good winter drinks. I like my WI Beer, and the only whiskey I usually drink is IN my beer to keep it from freezing.
