4 years ago I bought a long sleeve first light shirt. Before moving to Colorado I hunted a lot of warm weather. The shirt was exceptional in warm weather. This winter I bought a bunch more merino wool on clearance. A couple of my favorite pieces are my icebreaker boxer briefs. It\'s amazing how well they work. 3-4 days with cotton underwear or synthetic and it\'s pretty bad, but the merino wool keeps \"human scent\" to a minimum. If they weren\'t so dang expensive, I would have a closet full and wear them every day. Super soft as well! I signed up for Sierra trading post email flyer and used a coupon.
My new favorite purchase is my first lite Kanab 2.0. They are built like a brick sh$& house! They have an athletic fit, so they might be a little tight depending on your build. I wear a 33\" pant and the mediums are perfect. They give just enough to keep from binding and the pockets are excellent. Not sure about durability but they have rip stop material weaved in so I have high hopes.

I have used Microtex for years and still like the Microtex a lot. They wear slightly cooler in hot weather in my opinion. The first lite fit me better, less baggy, and the suspenders are great. Hard to rationalize 170 dollars for a pair of pants but I bought them used and hope to have them for many seasons!

Keep an eye out in December for online stores clearancing out their first lite. I paid about 60% of new for most of my gear.

Oh and one other thing... WATCH OUT FOR MOTHS!!!! My shirt has 4 little holes in it. Little ba$tards!!!!

A lot of my buddies rave about first lite.
Like you mentioned though, it\'s tough to drop that much $ for camo or clothing.

I do love wool though. I have two pairs of forest green cabelas wool pants that have lasted me for years.
You just can\'t beat how they perform! :upthumb:

There is no better layering system. I have worn it in 90 degrees down to 18 degrees so far. 2 long sleeve merino shirts, a puffy packable down coat, wool long underwear and Kanab wool pants with gaiters and wool socks makes for an awesome setup!

Lots of guys need the latest and greatest so keep an eye out for used. Also, Sierra trading has awesome deals if you sign up for their mailer.

I sure like wool. Very user-friendly in the stink department.

Good wool is expensive, but ... I never buy anything that\'s not on sale or used. That helps. And wool does seem to last a while, too.

Wool fan here too.

I use surplus wool field pants for later season hunting.
Rugged, lighter weight, and warm

Not real expensive either

Helly Hansen makes some great gear too.

I have a HH wool sweater that is amazingly warm

i\'m 90% sure First Lite offers a VERY GENEROUS military discount.

they give 40% off to law enforcement. super easy for cops. you send in a copy of your ID card and badge # and they send you a one-time use coupon code you use at check out. next week, i am taking my brother\'s ID card and badge and taking an iphone pic of it..if he isnt gonna use it, I AM!! their new FUSION camo pattern is just about perfect for every hunt i do. maybe not cali hogs.
