i had to vote SHEEP!! my first animal was a free roaming Aoudad. i got a free pass to some 135,000 acre ranch in the Davis mountains in west tex. it was like winning the lotto for me. my 8th grade principle took me...i was maybe 20.
In Mass where I grew up. A young whitetail buck when I was 10 years old. I hadn\'t seen an elk yet, and when I did at 12 years old it changed my life. I became obsessed with hunting elk from that point on.
Mine was a whitetail deer. I only noticed one in the tall grass looking at me. I made a frontal shot dropping it in its tracks and the field errupted. There was about a dozen standing there and I only saw the one.
A buck mule deer for me.
Win.M94 30-30 open sights at 30 yards.
That was my first day ever of big game hunting.
At the time you had to be 14 in Colorado to hunt big game.
My first was a cow elk...took a few years of chasing them though! I could have easily tagged many mulies before, but typically didn\'t carry tags for them with me.
My first was a little fork horned muley. I was 16 years old and in my second year big game hunting. I shot that buck with Colorado_Lew\'s 30-30 Winchester model 94.
First archery animal was a spike bull. Since then I\'ve managed a bunch more elk, a little muley buck, several whitetails, a buck antelope, and a black bear with my bow.
i killed a wt when i was 12, an a turkey when i was 13. mainly hunted quail cause those three were about all mo had. finally went antelope hunting 3 years ago an got one, then got my elk last year. so now its mulies an bear on the agenda
Arrowed a little wt button buck when I was 14 years old. After I shot him I thought I pretty big you know what. Then his sister came out and I missed her three times
A spike when I was 10 years old, 30-06, 220 yards resting from our deer camp water faucet. 5 years of bad luck after that, lol.
I recall my dad giggling in the background when I shot the deer. He said he was sure I was going to miss, which is why he let me shoot in the first place, lol
My first was a spike mulie buck when I was 12 years old. My mother let me fill her tag, which is illegal now & probably was then also, but no one told me! :silent: I missed that buck 4 shots with Moms 300 savage with open sights & my father said \" here, take my 270. Put that dot right behind his shoulder & squeeze the trigger\". He had a Weaver k4scope with a mil dot & wherever that dot was when the trigger broke was where the bullet went. Done ! After, I was shaking so bad I couldn\'t pick my nose!
Mine was a WT button buck.
Shot him with a model 94 Winchester 30-30 from a tree stand.
There was a couple inches of snow on the ground and my did mention how far apart my steps were on the way home.
So yeah, I was a bit excited.
I think I was old enough for a license - maybe , but I know we always had the \'Homesteaders Permit\' to cover the camp meat
