i am terrified of snakes, doesnt matter what kind, if it doesnt have legs i will act like a two year old girl. an thinking about having rattle snakes out here doesnt help that so when im around rocks especially i walk like i need a bathroom. let me empahsize terrified of snakes.
so i killed my turkey sunday an was walking out thru some rock outcroppings. steppin very gingerly as usual. a big rock gave way an my mind immeditately said nice job, get the whole nest after me. so i took about ten more steps an something hit me on the back of my left leg just above the boot with some force then a sharp sticking pain sensation. i literally jumped like old men shouldnt be jumping an took off up the mountain, with my turkey flopping over my back. i was sure i had been bitten an was working on a heart attack rather it was venomous or not. i looked down at my leg an had two cactus sticking out of my pants. those things hurt by the way.

My wife and I were taking a break from riding the ATV\'s (Don\'t have them anymore). As we were sitting by our quads, a guy on a motor cycle came down the trail.

He was intently looking at us, and promptly hit a low hanging branch, knocking him self off the bike and to the ground.

After making sure he was ok, we all had a pretty good laugh.

As for me, I never do anything worthy of Youtube :silent:

my first mule deer.

we were young and dumb..and thought if we climbed the BIGGEST baddest mountain out there, we would be able to choose the buck of our dreams from the herds hiding up there.

we climbed for hours..we were so high up there we saw rocky mountain big horns. i was using Bushnell binos at the time. the rams looked like any other brown animal.

i ate a lot of granola going up. fistfuls of fibery granola. and all that strenous leg churning..i get to the top and announce..\"i gotta go!\" i find a depression and \"settle in\". i look up and across this big valley and i see a 3x3 mulie buck..\"aw damn\"..

where is the TP? i rip off a shirt sleeve..and go..i run down the hill find my brother and he looks at me and my one missing sleeve and just starts laughing at me. i made an epic cross valley shot. the buck flopps over.. we then realize, sure we climbed a bad-A mountain..we just climbed the wrong Bad-A mountain. we had to go down one mountain and up the other.

then we were rookie enough to think we could drag that beast out. oh we did, but it almost killed us. i learned so much from that one trip.

i am so glad i have matured as a hunter. we had no mentors..it was all learn as we go.

bnsafe, had a similar \"oh crap\" moment on Sunday.

Turkey hunting on top of the mountain...wind came up mid-day. Couldn\'t hear anything, so I thought I\'d lay back and take a nap.

I woke suddenly up to something tugging on my boot!

Big gray squirrel...must have thought the bottom of my boot looked like a tasty pine cone

I was impressed at how hard he pulled on that boot! He ALMOST got an arrow for scaring me! ;)
