My husband has a north face down bag that he says is a 650 fill.  I've used it and didn't find it all that warm.  Are there any suggestions for a ladies bag that would be warmer?

Hi all this is my first year bowhunting and I'm just wondering if 40 pounds would be sufficient for killing elk?  I only plan on 20-25 yd shots if I can even get one. Thanks for any advice.  Oh I'm in Montana so I'm not sure yet if they have a poundage requirement or not.
