2 weeks until rifle season!

1st rifle season starts two weeks from today. I\'ll finally be in the woods after hearing all the stories from the archery guys and gals. Needless to say, I can\'t wait! Who else is heading up for a rifle season?

Hahaha, never thought of counting down the seconds! That should give me something to do for a few hours to take my mind off of the trip...lol!

I have it calculated in my \"elk hunt.xls\" spreadsheet.

I\'ve been maintaining that file since I started prepping for my first trip in 2008. no doubt, I have hundreds of hours (of mostly worthless) in that file.

I keep all our contact info, daily hunt logs, lessons learned, stuff-to-take, hunt plans, directions, daily running/weight log etc.

it\'ll probably be printed and buried with me someday.

Man! Its been a month since archery season started! Seems like forever already!

I just sighted in some 460gr NoExcuses bullets this morning. They should put the smack on Mr Elk. If I can find one among the 2500 hunters that will be getting in my way.

20 days to go. Providing the snow cooperates.

Scouting trip to Unit 61 this coming weekend for 1st rifle elk. Set up wall tent, bought/burned out new stove, tested Zodi shower. Took wife to range(it\'s her hunt) and she shoots my 7mm magnum(with muzzle break) with Federal 150 gr. Shooting really good at paper from 100 and 200 yards. Told her last 2 shots in clip were \"hunting rounds\" and to put on top right hand target. BOOM! BOOM! 5/8\" apart at 200 yards with factory ammo. Using bipod on front and sandbags under stock! No telling how good it\'d shoot if strapped to a lead sled.

I finally broke down and bought a rifle to deer hunt with so I can clean and put the muzzleloader up after the muzzleloader season... :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

I\'ve come up with a new physical problem with recoil. It\'s only going to get worse, so guns may come to an end this year.

I have a special license that lets me shoot a crossbow in archery season. I\'ve never owned a crossbow, so it\'s all new to me. It may be my only option if I want to continue hunting.

Cripes! Getting old really does suck!
