My elk (340 gross) was taken in Arizona. My wife\'s (310) was in Nevada about 50-60 miles from Las Vegas. She had the ONLY permit for the entire mountain range. Needless to say we didn\'t have any competition. I think it took her 7 years to draw the tag. It also took 7 years to draw the Arizona tag.
It takes time to find the right property. I looked for years as we traveled around hunting. We bought one in NC Missouri and didn\'t care for it due to the neighbors, so I\'ve learned from my mistakes. Just do your home work and be patient, you\'ll find the right one. I also talked to the local game warden before I bought the second farm. He helped a lot and has become a friend.

I\'ve hunted northern MO before and had a terrible experience because of the outfitter I used.
I love public land for the challenge and hunt it exclusively, but my best friend from high school wanted me to hunt with him up there so I caved.
I know putnam county produces some monster bucks, but this place took us to the ringer.....
I did like that they had a 4 point minimum up there.

Keef, I can\'t tell you anything about deer around Lakin. I live North of Wichita and hunt from there East. Lakin is pretty far West. It is close to Deerfield though so its\' got to be good!
