2016-2017 BTO Deer contest! Let the games begin!

I\'m down at the deer camp for the 2016 Arkansas youth modern gun deer hunt. Not many kidos hunting this year since most have grown up.

My grandkids are growing up too fast.

Anyway can I count my oldest grandsons buck he killed this morning for Team 1???

I was with him but he did make a perfect 220 to 250 yards shot...

I figured since I was there it should count for my team...

Just kidding but I\'m proud of all my grandkids that hunt.... :upthumb: :upthumb:

Pics!!!!

Unable post on forum but my daughter in law has some posted on her Facebook.

Melisa Weaver is her name...

Thanks for posting those Brad..

It was his best buck to date and this is his last youth until since he turns 16 March 1st next year.

Last weekend he took 1st place in a state wide ROTC air rifle match...

Two good weekends in a row...

Number 2 grandson killed a young 6 point this afternoon late. Pictures on my daughter in laws Facebook page.

Youngest grandson missed 2 today 1 this morning and 1 this afternoon.

The cool weather today had them moving around a bit.

Next weekend modern gun season for everyone starts.

Hope it stays cool and the bucks continue to show themselves.

Shot this buck at 1030 yesterday morning. He is barely an 8 pt with a dinky browtine on one main beam and a folded back flat brow on the other. Must have done that in velvet. This buck is a perfect example of why I don\'t kill big bucks....it\'s cause I shoot these when they show up. Lol

Thanks guys. He is not real old I don\'t think but probably a 3.5 yr old buck with inferior genetics. He was a fat sucker and field dressed 165 lbs. Most 2.5 yr old deer are typically around 150 lbs or so.

He made a mistake when he got out of his bed to run a little dink buck off who was right in front of my stand. Shot him at about 18 yards and he went about 75 before dying.

There was ZERO and I mean ZERO blood. My opinion is it was due to no exit and a heart shot that i would assume literally stopped it from pumping. I have shot a couple of animals in the heart that didn\'t bleed at all and others that gush blood. That is just my redneck hypothesis on why sometimes there is a lot of blood and sometimes little to no blood on heart shots.
