Those things are awesome. Not fast but will go just about anywhere even with a heavy load on them.

Another step completed in the process to hunt Alaska.

I don\'t know if anyone has ask but what are the dates you are going this fall??? And is it archery or rifle???

Phil
The area I drew has the season dates of Sept 1 - 20.

The tag is a bull moose tag - min 50\" wide of 4 brow tines - Any Weapon. But as of July 1, 2016 any one using archery gear in AK must have have the BOW HUNTING CERTIFICATE

The plan is arrive in ANC on Friday Sept 9, get some misc items on Saturday and then drive up north to the area.
Prob sleep in the truck Sat evening and then Argo into the backcountry Sunday morning and hunt til the 20th [if necessary]

I hope to get some fishing in on the back-end of the hunt sometime, especially if we are successful early in the hunt.

Then fly back to DEN on Sunday Sept 25

Looks like that\'s going to take up most of your archery elk season this fall.. Are you going to try to archery elk hunt any or rifle elk hunt late????

As of now, I will hunt archery elk opening weekend and the following Labor Day long weekend

Thats 5 days... Plenty of time.... :)

After researching more options I now talked to a pilot that will fly us in.
$800/person and $800/moose

Discussing logistics/timing now...

That doesn\'t sound bad at all Brad! And I like that they are incentivized to get you a moose.

So to fly ya\'ll in and out it\'s $800 each and then it\'s $800 for each moose ya\'ll fly out????????

That ain\'t bad if that\'s the case... :upthumb: :upthumb:

By the way, some logistics is getting to be a small problem in regards to the Colorado trip this summer... :downthumb: :downthumb:

And the gear purchases have started....

Today

Two RiverGear Duffle River Bags, Helly Hansen Impertech II Rain Coat and Lacrosse 600g Hip Boots

OK!
Just got off the phone with the pilot [air taxi service] and we are penciled in!

We will fly out Monday September 12

I have been told the guy is a great guy and pilot... been taking hunters in for many years and knows the country really well

Not much more to do other than dream now...

Here is a pic of the lake we will take off from civilization from.

I just purchased my AK round trip airline tickets, $28.20 including travel insurance

I signed up for the Alaska Airlines credit card and they give you enough miles for a trip.
