I inquired to a guy up in Alaska about the area we are headed to since its a popular hunting area and moose population was down but the AF&G has been doing some predator control [grizz & wolf] the past few years and moose numbers are up from what they were

I just saw on bowsight that AK just changed their bowhunter ed requirements again.
Beginning July 1st anyone born before Jan 1st 1986 will not need a bow hunter ed class to hunt general hunt areas.
Anyone hunting a restricted weapons hunt will still need to have the class.

Update
Been doing a few things to prepare for this trip.
I mailed one box up to my buddy that contained all my food, utensils, and water purifier.
I will be sending another box with my hip boots, gear bags and other large items I don\'t want to lug thru the airport.
Even tho I applied for this tag last December, and drew in February, the AFG will be sending me my permit this month.
Today I just purchased my locking tag
57 days until insertion via float plane

Shipped another box to Alaska today - some gear and things I dont need for elk elk hunting.
I wrote on the inside flap what all was in it so I can ship it back - also include a self addressed card and tape so I can just tape it on and ship it home when done.

I will pack the rest of my gear in my bow case and Badlands Terra Glide and check as baggage
Then just have a carry-on at the airport
