2017 KY whitetail hunt (semi live)

It's a few days early, but I'm gearing up for my 2017 KY whitetail hunt!
Im heading up there Tuesday and hopefully will be in a stand Tuesday evening. I'll be hunting there until Saturday evening or until I tag out.


Kentucky and the country I'm hunting got hammered this year by EHD. I believe it's over 200 confirmed EHD cases so far.
Because of that and the fact my freezer is already jammed full, this will be a buck and buck only trip.
It's going to be VERY hard to sit on my hands and not shoot a doe, but I think it's the right thing to do. I don't need the meat right now and any doe that can make it through the season will help with the hopeful population rebound.


Im going to do my best to hold out for a good buck. There is one frequenting the area I'm going to be hunting and I'd be VERY happy if he came in.

The best part is Ill be hanging out with Mark (bowfreak on here) so I get to bother him for a few days!

I'll try to update this as I go! After this I have a week long conference in Texas and then it's off to Oklahoma to whitetail/mule deer hunt!

If my OK public land is close enough.... I'll just drive out there everyday too LOL

Wow, that's a decent amount of time. It certainly looks like you've rebounded nicely though.... those two bucks you shot were GREAT!


I just figure if I don't touch any does it'll help.

Broadheads are still dialed in.  Just need to get through a few hours of work tomorrow, load my truck, and leave!!!!

My nice creek crossing is a little too deep from a few days of rain. 

I sat there anyways last night to see if anything was moving.

3 does are bedded 30 yards away and I've passed on a small buck so far.

Just had a beautiful 8 pointer, shooter buck come in.....

The wind is blowing in a direction that wasn't forecasted and he caught my 13 yards away coming in from behind me.  He was coming down a hill and would have given me a 19 yard quartering away shot.

No deer this evening, but I did have a bobcat come in!
