Here is our 2024 Hunt Update Thread! As always, use this as a place to check in and to post updates as to how things are going in your hunt. Heading out for your hunt? Made it to camp and have cell service? Got one down? Let us know! It's a great way for those who aren't currently in the woods to live vicariously through you! This is also a great place to share any information on how the elk are acting in a particular state or general location (don't use specific units please), like are the bulls bugling, is the moon effecting the elk, etc.

Was informed yesterday that my guys will be at the house by 10 on Monday. Plan was noon, leave by 1330! Guess I got a couple anxious guys.
One even said he hoped we got 3 bulls down the first day. I told him that’s my worst nightmare!

Details!!! I need details!!! Our season is two weeks in and I haven’t set foot into the woods yet. I’m headed out Wednesday.

Sorry guys, been hectic lately.
The weather wasn’t an issue this year. Loggers moving in, cattle everywhere and lots of people!
Had 3 guys side hill Del Norte at 9:30 in the morning. A bull had bugled and bedded an hour before they came through. After they passed, watched him go up and over the top.
Cats everywhere this year. Get time to be thinking about banning lion hunting.
Too many tags for a unit that close to Texas. Had one kid from Florida in an old ambulance parked in the middle of the road talking on his phone. Got around him and went to the TH. He went by as we were heading out. Next morning, there sat the ambulance. Ya, I know it’s public.
Guess I shouldn’t complain too much. We had a good time, got into elk and one of the guys got drawn back on a cow. Too much brush to take the shot.
It was elk hunting, best 2 weeks spent. At 63, I’m just happy I can still get out there and enjoy it.

Is anyone hunting for anything around here? It’s been awfully quite for a while. I’m going out for deer starting in about a week but I won’t get too serious about it until the rut which for us will be around early to mid November.

I'm playing catch up after a hectic three weeks of hunting trips. Archery elk hunt followed by a rifle antelope hunt and finished off taking my son elk hunting during 1st Rifle here in CO. Unfortunately, no elk tags were punched, but I did fill my antelope tag and my son was able to take a doe during his hunt. Now the focus goes to filling two more deer tags for my son and I and then a late season antelope hunt in December.

I've been a bit pre-occupied...Busy in CO for my first ever elk hunt (1st Rifle), and then I just got back this last weekend from a mule deer hunt in MT. Both were amazing, and both ended with meat in the freezer! In CO, we found elk the day we arrived and were into them nearly every day. They were still bugling a bit in the morning and evening, and even saw a couple bulls fighting! It was by far the best first elk hunt experience I could ever have asked for. We were extremely blessed!

So awesome, congrats again on the first elk, and also on a heck of a trip!

Nice work. I’ve seen the elk photo. Where are the deer photos?
Little bit of a different landscape than the elk hunt:LOL:...Caught him just before he slipped down into a 300' deep coulee that's about 50 ft behind me in this photo.

That’s a nice buck. Our mule deer live in terrain you would expect mountain goats to be in. That place looks like you could walk for hours and still see camp.

Great buck! How far was the shot? Did you put a stalk on him? Looks like some pretty wide-open ground!!
