Anybody else getting excited?

10 days for me.  I can't wait.  Watching a Born and Raised video as we speak.  Really put some time in this year.  Got lucky last year, I hope I have a little of that left in me.  I am also pulling for my two hunting partners.  Last year they got some opportunities but were unable to seal the deal.  This year they have also really prepared.  You wouldn't know that these guys only have 20 days total in the field.  I am darn proud of them.

Sept 8-13th For me! I cannot wait! Got the permit I wanted and am headed to the old homestead to chase elk! Could not be more ready either!

All,  I can't wait. Was up last weekend scouting. Took the camper up Thursday and established camp. Had to come back down to work opening day. I will be heading up Sunday morning for Lord willing a successful DIY elk hunt. Upgraded my bow and hoping to make it it a veteran this year. Best of luck to everyone. Clean release and shoot straight.
RLTW!

Let's elk hunt!

First post! ! Flying out to Montana on the 22nd from upstate ny, for my first ever elk hunt.  Super excited.  DIY with friends from Wisconsin.  They have been successful in the past.  I grew up watching primos crew chase big bulls with archery gear and can't wait to experience it first hand.  9 days hunting come home a month and head to Wisconsin for whitetails.  Big whitetails.  Travel safe and hope your packs get heavy.

They opened up a 6 point bow season in the area I live here in British Columbia.

Its a tough hunt to begin with, let a lone with a bow as the herds and elk numbers are small in this part of the province.

Can't complain taking my bow to work and hiking the hills after for a few hours of elk hunting.

Good luck to you all.

Im excited year around for Elk hunting.  Whether its shooting my bow, practicing calling, working out or loading up the equipment and headed out.  Love elk hunting.

Hey all:  yes it's that time of year when I'm starting to pour over maps and what if situations. This year is a first for me hunting private land(trespass fee) with my old man. He's sixty six and no way he's getting back in the honey holes so I'm tryin something new. I met this guy who owns the ranch (5000 acres) while hiking back an old beat up road I decided to walk instead of drive. We shot the shit for a little while and he drove me in his jeep the last half mile...

He gave me his card if I was ever interested in hunting his land. I wasn't. Way to expensive. But as luck would gave it I forgot my lucky jacket on the floorboard of that jeep. Sooo I called the old cowboy later that night to track down the lost jacket and it had fallen out when I exited and he picked it up for me.

Of course we met a night later at the watering hole in town and he made me deal. If I could get out there with dad the fallowing year he'd give us use of his homestead for 1g a peice, with logging and pack mules. Deal!!!! I believe the going rate is close to 5 but after a few calls it was set . 1st rifle season can't come soon enough.

Is it crazy I still want to bring my bivy pack and get back in it for a couple nights?
He has 10 other hunters in camp with us too.. Not norm for me but excited to meet people from all over who share the same addiction

I'm starting to get the night terrors! Every night for the last week I've been dreaming about elk hunting. This is terrible! Its making going to work harder and harder till September 7th when I get to hit the hills. Im just a little nervous because I hurt my knee running about 3 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for it to feel good enough again to run. If it still hurts come hunting time I will just be doing a lot of glassing before dropping into a canyon. And Ibuprofen will be my friend haha. I'm shooting my bow out to 70 yards and when I do that I have to stand in the middle of the street. COME ON SEPTEMBER!!! HURRY UP AND GET HERE!!!

Best of luck ...going out to Colorado Sept 13... I'm packed and ready ...shooting out to 60 yards regularly.
If you hear of any, Michigan bow hunters going out to Colorado in sept I may need some help getting my meat home if I am fortunate to harvest one.
Good luck all...remember...pick a spot ...breathe...release arrow.
