Anyone else having a dry year?

Hope things go well out there for the residents and firefighters and well anyone else involved.  Been seeing something pop up in the news.  Thoughts are with ya Joe.

Thanks for all the kind words and thoughts everyone. A small gift from God today in some long needed rain. Nothing to take us out of the drought but it helped the firefighters get this beast about 23 percent contained. Still not allowed back into our homes but crossing our fingers for tomorrow . Good news is that my wife and I as well as our home are all good. That's a big win, it could have been a lot different. Thanks again for all the well wishes!

So glad to hear that rain came in yesterday and that it was able to help the firefighters get a better handle on it. Im hoping we start transitioning into rain season here soon to prevent any future fires from starting.  Let us know if you need anything, Joe!

Good to hear Joe. Hopefully there's more on the way and they can get that thing knocked out.

The place I generally hunt in NM had one of the mildest winters in a long time....
Unless they get some great rain soon I'll be watching the fire maps like a hawk and hoping nothing wild happens.  :? :? :?

My wife and I had to evacuate Cimarron yesterday in Northern NM. So far over 16,000 acres burned in what has been labeled as the Ute Park fire. Pretty wild.

best of luck!!  BEEN there done that.

i left home with insurance papers, cat, dog and wife.  left everything.

Well my national forest is officially closed to the public right now.

I keep seeing different numbers, but the average is this is the driest year it's been in over 80+ years

Colorado closed the San Juan National Forest due to wildfires.  It has since been re-opened but with some very tight restrictions.  Talk of possible other closures in CO if don't get some rain.

I feel your pain, had a scouting trip planned for mid-July. As of today it looks like that's not going to happen.
