Are you actually prepared?

This season will be here REAL soon for some of us.... 2 months for me!

The big question is.... are you actually prepared?
If yes? Awesome....
If no... how close are you???

My honest opinion is I am ready to go. I have all the gear I need, I have my game plans, I\'ve been shooting like crazy...
Put me in the woods tomorrow and an elk is in trouble.

How about you?

Not remotely close. I\'m so far behind on my work outs but hopefully I get caught up. Mentally I\'m just behind. It just doesn\'t seem like it should be so close.

Deffinately not ready on my end but give me a couple weeks and I\'ll be good to go. I just need to shoot my bow some and get at least one scouting trip in. Physically and mentally I am more prepared than ever.

OH YES!!!!! I am ready physically and mentally. All I have to do is organize my gear and get it ready to throw in the truck. I am going to put everything on a list with weights. 62 days and 15 minutes till I leave home.

It is close! If you can get your head in the game you will do fine. Your mind is your most powerful tool. :train:

I can send you daily motivation texts if you need. :upthumb:

Physically, yes. My shooting needs another 2 months. I\'ve changed up several things in my bow/arrow setup along with slight changes in my form and style that I need to get solidly ingrained. I\'ve only been shooting short distance the last few months.

I also need to find a trailer for my quad.

I\'ll be hunting a unit I\'ve hunted twice before so I\'m excited to check out the areas I\'m familiar with and exploring new areas I\'ve located through GE and the new map I just received from StartMyHunt. Lots of new way points to upload on my GPS!

Im ready.
If I left right now, Im sure I would forget a couple small items but nothing of significance that would stop the hunt.

Its more like getting the logistics in order

I signed up for a Train To Hunt challenge event in July. Did this so I would have a solid reason to be elk ready. I usually train year round tho.

no way..

never. just thinking of packing my gear gives me night sweats. plus all my crap is in storage..more night sweats.

physically, i\'m ready. at least to the point where i dont die.

Gear wise - about 95%, I want to get a synthetic sleeping bag for my mountain goat hunt. Looking at Big Agnes Encampment 15. Waiting on an Excalibur dehydrator - looking to dehydrate my own meals, rather than living off of Mountain House.

Physical conditioning about 70%. Need to get in more cardio and up my weight training.

Weight loss - pretty poor - still want to lose about 20lbs. It\'s all about what I am eating and I eat clean too inconsistently, need to clean it up.

Shooting about 85% where I want to be with my compound. Been shooting at a traditional shop as well - looking at getting a recurve to hunt my moose.

Scouting - just started last weekend for the moose. Will go as many weekends as I can that are open. Going to do 2 scouting trips for the mountain goat - luckily I know where I want to hunt after helping my buddy out - just need a 3rd option if the other 2 don\'t pan out.

Physically - not too bad. Need to continue with cardio and weights. This weekend will be a good test.

Shooting - have to increase. Will do more this weekend also and every chance possible between now and opener.

Mental - honestly don\'t know. The thought of a 390-400\" bull coming in under my tree stands unnerves me even at my computer!! While not as likely to happen, there are bulls in that range where I\'ll be hunting. Even a 350\" bull when in a ground blind on a water hole gets me quivering! It\'ll come together when it\'s time but the thoughts going through my head are flying 100 mph. :)

Going for my first scouting trip to the area this weekend so hopefully confidence and such will go up significantly.

I\'ll be ramping up exercise, diet and shooting from now \'till the opener. Gonna do Grey\'s & Torreys (14ers) tomorrow (it\'ll probably be a zoo).

Even though we know our spots pretty well, I\'m hoping to get a fair amount of scouting in between now and the opener, mainly exploring some new country.

Counting the days!!!

I am lagging on my cardio....
weight wise, I am only 2-3 pounds off, but I feel stronger with all of the farm work I have been doing.
shooting, not as confident as last year. but I have only really began to shoot again not even 2 weeks ago. 30 and under= no problem! over 30 is not the greatest. I was only able to shoot out to 23 yards in my back yard. I can shoot as far as I want to now :D
I am taking some of my arrow of light scouts to the big horns on the 12th. then turn around and head to Idaho on the 22nd to scout with the fam and new hunting partner and his boys. that will give me just over a month before we leave to hunt.
then I will know where I am at!

Physical shape: Reasonable. Probably don\'t need to make many changes here, just continuing maintenance ...

Shooting: I\'m behind on this one ... I need to ramp things up here.

Scouting: Plenty to do ... Plans A, B, and C are in place, but there are always \"refinements\".

Gear: Looking at new arrows and perhaps some new lighter shoes this weekend. I\'d like to have an option to my hiking boots. Otherwise, I have too much gear, not too little!

Food: I\'m going to pre-cook a lot of meals this year and that hasn\'t started yet.

If I had to, I could grab the stuff I have and be in the mountains in 24 hours in a reasonable camp, food included, and probably do fine, so I\'m not in terrible need of anything.

Looked at our spot on GE last night for the first time in months! I woke up hurting :lolno: Heading to the gym!

steve, we are in an actual NO MOTORIZED VEHICLE area this year!!!!! not even dirt bikes, yoohoo!

Nope. Been upping my exercise. Have lost a few pounds. Need to work on my cardio.

Shooting I was pretty close till my string stretched. My bow is in the shop getting new string and cables now. Won\'t take me long when I get it back.

Gear wise I\'m pretty set.

Reality check.

I went for a 3 mile loop in elk country carrying a light pack and the next day I could feel I wasnt quite as ready as I thought I was.

Big difference in exercising at home and in the elk woods
