Are you actually prepared?

I feel stronger with all of the farm work I have been doing.

Hard work is what keeps me in shape year round.

The only exercise I do is to work on a few targeted muscles.

I was reading some of the posts on this thread to my wife. She said \"Heck you was ready as soon as you got back last year\". She knows I am addicted :D

farm work has kept me at a good weight this year, I didn\'t have to do a big weight drop like in the years past.... :D

Physically I am ready. Still working on a plan for opening day and then the rest of the season. Put out a camera a few weeks ago and got some early action. Curious to see what the camera shows as it gets closer to September. The spot is only 1/2 mile from a th so I am very cautiously optimistic about the spot. My spot from last year is loaded with elk but gets hit really hard with hikers and hunters and is miserable to hunt so I might hit it opening weekend and then head to the other spot later. I don\'t know yet, but I am putting a ton of pressure on myself to make it happen this year. Which could be a bad thing! :)

I know a guy on this site who puts WAY too much pressure on himself and has the last few years.
It ate him up leading up to the hunts and really got him during the hunts.

Go into it looking to have a good time and experience the great amounts. A killed elk is just a bonus!
If you can do that, life will be so much easier.....

x2! I\'ve put pressure on myself before and it ruins what should be a good time. Enjoy the hunt because you will spend the next 360ish days thinking about it and waiting to get back. It\'s a vacation from your job...don\'t make it a job.

As far as my preparation, things are falling into place. Yesterday was a big step in the right direction for figuring out where I am going to hunt during the archery season. I need to get out and spend some more time scouting and putting out cameras, but I have a much better idea now. I need to get back to shooting more and could also use a little more practice on my calling, but overall I feel pretty good about the upcoming season.

I did that to myself when I went back out the second time last year. I knew better but I pushed way to hard and did not eat well either. My mind was at home and not in the hunt. First time I totally burned my body out.

This year I\'m going to enjoy my time with family and friends and if I get a elk it will be a bonus.
