What is your favorite GPS? I have an older Garmin Etrex that works fine but not to many bells and wistles. Looking for something that is touch screen like my smart phone or even my phone. Although I think a GPS would be better. Thoughts and sugestions greatly appreciated,

I have the Garmin 62 ST. I love it. Currently just using ND TRAX on it because I haven't went out of state yet but this year I am going to try out the GPS HUNTING maps for MT.
I already have the Google Earth overlay and really like it so I am looking forward to the plat chip for the handheld.

I like the Garmin Rino's I have the older 530hcx that I let my son in law use, tried to get him to buy it, no such luck, and got the 655t last summer.  I love them. The ability to track your hunting partners on your screen is great.  The radio is a good safety feature too plus in the right areas you can keep in touch with the weather reports, or like this past year, what the fires were doing. I load my maps from GPSfiledepot.com  They work great.

I have the garmin 550T. I love it! Battery life is ok. Battery lasts about two 16 hour days when I'm Elk Hunting. Might even make it half of the third day. I bought the 24k Colorado topo map chip. It is quite a bit more detailed than the standard 100k topo that comes built in to the GPS. The bonus to the 550T over the 450T is the camera. Not super High Definition but the pictures are saved as a waypoint on the GPS also. I also am kind of a fan of the touch screen, but it can be dificult to point on a specific feature on the map. Overall, I like it. It has a lot of features I haven't even used and a lot that I don't even know how to use. If you have any other specific questions, please ask. I will answer if I know, or attempt to figure it out for you.

I have had the Garman Etrex series and the Magellan Tritan series gps. The Quality and functions are better on the Garman gps. The Mapping software is by far better on the Magellan. Overall I prefer the Magellan  over the Garman because of the mapping. I live in Boise Id and the Garmans mapping system does not show 75% of the county (paved and dirt) roads that have been established for over 50 years. Nothing I hate more than hiking by my gps and running into a paved road. Hope this helps narrow things down for you.

I have had a Magellan 500 for years and like the maps and all,but I need the public/private sd card option here in NM. So I'll be getting Garmin Oregon 450 or 550,card is ordered

I use the Garmin Foretrex 301; I use topo map and a compass for my movements, and the GPS to confirm position, mark points, etc.

I've never really seen the point of having a GPS in the past. I've always hunted the same areas, so I didn't ever feel like I needed one. We hunted out of state in Colorado 2 years ago and Mark had one with the GPSHuntingMaps loaded on it, and it was awesome. I'm definitely getting one this spring, and will have the Rockies North regional maps (ID, MT, WY) from HuntingGPSMaps loaded onto it!

Love the Garmin Rinos.  I can keep track of where my buddies are at during rifle season, and I've even been able to get information on distances to other rino carrying hunters in the area during archery season.  Its nice to have a radio and GPS in one.  I don't really need a GPS to keep me from getting lost because I'm usually familiar with the area, but it is great for marking wallows and other important stuff.  I also create my own custom maps with waypoints/routes/private land boundaries/elk wallows, rubs, trails, etc.  Its just one more tool I use to save all the info I gather over each season (because my brain has a hard time holding on to info these days).

I bought the Garmin 450T last year, and I thing it is awesome, very user friendly.
I also bought the Hunting GPS maps for it. a must have in my book, if your hunting out of State.
