best way to carry the head/rack

I have done it a couple diff ways depending on the type of terrain tips up,tips down,points forward or backward?I think I prefer tips up points back but does have over head issues but clears the brush and lets you sit down to rest on long hauls.what do You do?

For me, if I am not going to mount it, I am just going to cut the rack off, no reason to carry the extra 50 pounds of the cape and head unless it is going on the wall.

For me it just depends on the terrain for the pack out. Either way I try to get the load centered or up higher on my back for a more natural carry.
