Blacktail deer

California B Zone is basically OTC. You can get an Archery Only Tag that covers A and B Zones...so both coastal and inland blacktail.

Oregon offers a general tag that covers a large area of prime blacktail country as well.

I\'ve been looking at those cali tags and they seem interesting!

I would just much rather spend my money in Washington or Oregon :upthumb:

Can\'t blame you for that, Dan!

Oregon general tag can be used in several units for late rut hunts as well as early Season. That\'s one bonus that CA unfortunately does not have.

Thanks Jeff!
I am going to start doing some leg work and investigating. I think 2016 might hold a blacktail hunt.
They seem really cool

Do any states offer Blacktail deer hunting OTC?

Washington? Oregon? California?

Funny I don\'t look at the deer forum much and I\'m surprised I looked....I haven\'t in months... Anyhow. Dan, if you look at the P&Y or Boone and Crockett records you will see a very large representation from Jackson County Oregon. There are some WHOPPER blackies in Jackson County.
I just happen to live in the heart of Jackson county and blacktail mecca. Send me a PM if you want serious about it and I can get you some good info. :upthumb:

i saw the two biggest blacktail deer of my life in the Trinity mtns..CA.

they were geniuses..they made their home the most un approacable mountain on the range. saw them everyday, but never could work up a path to get to them without killing myself, or alerting them of my hike in. they were giants!!

Oregon seems super cool!! i have a buddy that does well with some secret treestand locations.
