I read colorado requires 500 sq in. plus a hat. would a solid orange vest and hat be enough?

That should cover it  A vest should be over 500 inches by itself.  You know one way to solve that is to just switch over to archery hunting

lol not everyones cup of tea and sometimes when bow hunting i have to  wear orange because its gun season.
