For those who hunt antelope often.

About how long does it take for the antelope to warm up to the blinds?

Dan
From what Deertick has posted, not long. He has put a blind up one day and hunted it the next I believe.
I know others that have put it up the day of the hunt.

But Im not the one to ask :)

I\'ve put them up \"same day\" multiple times and had no trouble at all.

That\'s been on private ground, but I\'m not sure that\'s a huge factor. In August, even on public ground around here, pronghorn don\'t get a lot of visitors.

Right now, my blind is folded-up and behind a stock fence near a windmill ... I\'ll put it up tomorrow morning around 8 or so ... they\'ll watch me do it. They seem to start for water on this place about 10:30 or so, and they don\'t seem to mind the new \"box\" by the pond. When I have had them get nervous, which is rare, it has been because my old Ameristep blind has so many holes that it \"flaps\" ... noise seems to bug them.

So, aim for a low wind time of the day, or get a blind without holes. I\'m going to have to get one next year.

deertick, there is a store in mo called rogers sporting goods. go the website. they have blinds with there name on it that equals a double bull. material is awesome. an they had them on sale for 100 bucks awhile back

$100 is about what I\'m budgeting ... I don\'t use a blind much, so it\'s not like it\'s out there September through January like the whitetail hunters back east. I\'ll look into it.

Downhill ... ? ... for the pronghorn, or for you?

There\'s not a lot of ways things can go bad for the hunter, though I have done it!

there is a fence that runs right into the guzzler that I was hunting. I pre-ranged each post so I knew exactly where the buck would be when it came in. I saw him and counted my chickens before the eggs hatched...

I forgot the range and instead of taking the 3 extra seconds to rerange, I shot under him...

It didn\'t even spook him, he trotted off about 100 yards and bedded down, so I knew he would come back in to drink.
The only issue was a herd of cattle decided it wanted to come in and drink too. He wasn\'t going anywhere near it after that.

:x :x :x :x

I messed it up big time
