Bow Case

I\'ve been trying to find a good bow case now that I invested in a bow. I figured a hard shell case would be the best bet, considering it might get bounced around in the truck or on the occasional ATV ride. However, it seems that trying to find a hard case in a store is like trying to find a unicorn eating a four leaf clover! Even Cabelas only had one kind in the store, and it was $90. Any suggestions on something to look for online? Any reason you wouldn\'t recommend getting a hard case? I assume most cases would fit a 34\" bow, correct?

Derek
I have had both hard and soft sided bow cases.
I use a inexpensive hard case mostly but there are some decent soft side cases that would do just fine.

No matter what case you have or use, it seems you treat it gentle because your bow is in it!

Find one in your budget and it will be ok

I\'m like Brad. I have a cheap hard case that I use when traveling long distance. I have a soft padded case that I use the rest of the time.

I have used some of the cheaper hard plastic cases and they really don\'t do much more than take up space. I then bought this case by Plano http://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/ ... aQodWRkGdw I am sure you can find it cheaper somewhere else but this case has stood up to everything I have put it through. I do have a soft case that I use when going to the range but any trips that have me going hours down the road with other gear as well this case is what my bow goes in. It\'s not the most expensive or cheapest but it will withstand about anything. I have even stood on it while my bow was in it and no flex at all.

i am so opinionated on bow cases. hah..big surprise.

my first bow case was for a Mathews Switchback XT. i went to great lengths to read fit charts, took tape measure, etc. i got a perfect bow case. fit like a bug in a rug. dropped big money on a SKB parallel bow case. then i swapped bows..and DUH!! bow got bigger, didnt fit the case. i gave that case away in anger, and bought a big double bow bowcase from SKB. got it used..so now..ANY bow i buy will fit that case. i\'m not dropping $$$ to buy a bow only to find i need to drop more cash on a bowcase.

you really need to ask one question of yourself. ARE YOU GOING TO EVER PUT THAT BOW ON A COMMERCIAL AIRLINE?
i think the answer changes everything. i fly, so i need burly airline approved bowcases. SKB so far, but mine kinda sucks. it is warping before my eyes. new iSeries is vastly improved and kinda copies the Pelican cases.

if i didnt plan on flying in to hunts, i would get a soft case. they are so good now. very padded, extra pockets for carrying way to much BS. i use a Tarantula single bow, soft case. it protects on truck drives, it has been in the back of a Mule atv. very good case. i love it.

flying. new SKB case, or the Lakewood one. very nice. Pelican fit charts make my head hurt. like i said, buy bigger than you need so it fits bows universally. and i cram mine full of my camo gear.

anyone else feel Cohunter about to slide down the slippery slope? hahahah..

he\'ll be building a draw board and shopping bow presses soon. :D

I bought my SKB double for about $80 at Dicks. It is a long story as to how I got it that cheap but I did. Anyway....like you said......if you plan to fly I believe SKB is probably the best option. Not only do they stand behind their product 100% but they also have a gear insurance deal where they replace your gear if it is damaged in their case.

Elky,

SKB will fix or replace your case no questions asked. Matter of fact you can\'t even pay them to fix it if you want. Contact them, send them your warping case and they will fix it or replace it no questions asked.

I think after a season of bow hunting he will be hooked.

Thinking of going with this case. Seems basic and has pretty good reviews. I don\'t expect to ever have to fly on an airplane with the bow. Any hunting done outside of Colorado will probably be done in a nearby state that I would drive to (TX, OK, NE, WY). Thoughts? Cliff, I hear what you are saying about how good the soft cases are. Still makes me a bit nervous, especially on an ATV.

My friend has that case. I think my soft case is just as safe. Great price tho. Takes up a lot of room tho.

I found a bow is pretty robust. The stresses of a bowshot exceed the bumps and knocks it takes in every day life. I watched a bow fall out of a tree stand once. Knocked his site off, but we reset it, paper checked tune, and he went on to killing all the pigs of the hunt. That bow bounced!

Thanks for the info Cliff, that is very helpful! If I do go the soft case route, anything in particular to look for?

my friend has the Tarantula double bow case. he just drops the bow into a padded void and goes. the other side he puts clothing and things. he has so much room.

i have the single bow case. it is also padded the same. some foam with an \"upholstery\" covering. mine is tighter. my friends wins because it kinda stands up..opening on the top. he would hook a handle on the side of the pickup bed and simply lift his bow in and out. i usually drop mine in the other pocket if i am hunting with him. my case needs to lay flat. and mine zips all around so it could fall out if i got stupid. i kinda remember his being more like a basket or cradle.

i\'ve seen a Legends soft case. more expensive and embarrassing colors. i think they are marketed for the target shooters. very good case. not so sure i can get over the colors. very in your face colors. like Nascar colors.

Heading out to the range. I\'m gonna unload bow and hook to my pack. Wife wants to hike afterwards. I\'m not leaving it in my truck.
