Bull bugles, then moves and shuts up, now what?

  You get a bull to respond to your calls. He closes the distance, and bugles a couple of more times. The next time he bugles, hes farther away now, so you move to close that distance, then he shuts up. What do you do then?

I assume he saw or winded me or heard something he didn't like. I also shut up and try to close the distance to where I think he is. If something has him spooked, chasing him and continuing to bugle seems to educate them. If he is pushing cows and continues to talk to them or you can track him I would try that but I wouldn't call any more unless he instigates it.
