Bull elk size

Hello,
New to the forum. I have a bull elk on a property I hunt for whitetail. Sadly in my area there isn’t an elk hunt. So I am not a good judge of how big the elk is.
Any idea how big this elk is? Score? Pretty sure it is an 8x8.
I know it would be a trophy. Definitely hoping it drops his horns close by. When do they normally drop them?

I’m seeing a 7x7. None of the points jump out as overly long, he’s not got huge mass. That being said, I’m guessing he’ll gross around 330-340” and I wouldn’t think twice about taking him!
Good luck with finding the sheds. Measure them up if you do find them and let up know.

What’s a big score for an elk?

Agree that tine length isn't great, but he's still a great bull. Anything over 300" is usually considered big IMO and I'd say he's definitely over that.

I agree. 7x7 and in the 340ish range. Whats big for elk? 400 is huge and not an elk your likely to ever see unless your hunting really great, hard to draw units. The bull in your photos would be a big bull here in my part of Idaho. They can get bigger but I think in my 43 years of existence in Idaho I've only seen a handful of bulls in that neighborhood and probably only a couple over that. Big is subjective I guess but to me your bull is a big bull.

I never filed the application but it was killed in Gunnison county on public land.
