Here is the scenario.

You are now in charge of implementing all regulations for elk hunting - all manners of take - Archery/ML/Rifle

In your state that you hunt, and what you are familiar with, what changes you you make to the current laws/seasons?

Would you limit tags more?
Limit Non Res opportunities?
Raise Tag prices?
Lower tag prices?
Extend the seasons?
Regulate/limit ATV use more?
Allow Crossbows during archery season?

Thoughts?

CO- Run the full four weeks of bowseason, leaving it as is. Then, run one week for just Muzzy Hunters right on the tail end of bowseason.

Then let the rifle hunters have at \'em!

Safer for everyone, and would allow more vocal encounters in the areas I hunt (resounding boomsticks seem to shut down vocal activity).

2 weeks in Sept for ML season.

2 weeks in Sept for bow season.

Alternate weeks so everybody gets to hunt most of the month.

Less NR tags.

Guaranteed tags for resident hunters over 70 in their home unit.

Yes, a selfish list, but you asked.

In WY ... I\'d think about making hunters choose a weapon.

I can\'t think of any way to defend our Wilderness laws, but until I\'m a non-resident, it\'s just not a priority for change.

I would institute a \"trusted hunter\" program where the state would vouch for a hunter\'s qualifications in terms of experience and ethics (maybe by requiring annual classes) and ranches could offer special tags (they could set seasons within a range offered by the state) and \"trusted hunters\" would be the only ones eligible to apply.

ID and MT, really the only thing for me would be to limit the ATV access. They still don\'t leave the trail just like the roads so I don\'t buy that it gets them away from people. Or they get to less pressured elk, I have seen the same or more traffic going up the ATV trails as the roads LOL.
