Almost time to launch.
I will be attempting to fill my Wyoming elk tag over the next 10 days with Deertick and another friend Eric.
I have never hunted elk other than in Colorado so to says I am stoked would be an understatement!

This hunt will not be updated until our return.
There will be many pics and movies taken and posted.

Wish us luck!

My tradition at this point is to quote a friend who was one of my college professors: what we don\'t cover in class, we\'ll cover on the test. And here comes the test.

Update.
Howdy.
We hiked out 5 miles today to get some supplies. Weather is bad wind and rain. Snow tomorrow. Everything is wet.
Seeing elk. We passed on a cow. No bugling at all.
We are having a blast tho.
Weather is to get better Friday. We will have 2 days to get it done.

Hiking back in now.
5 miles of Wyoming backcountry in wind and rain.
Yep. That\'s elk hunting.

OK here we go!

Lets set the stage.

There are 3 of us heading into the backcountry

Me - John Deertick - Eric [from Baltimore MD]

We all meet at John\'s place in Laramie Friday night - Sept 11

Me crossing the border into Wyoming

Eric was already at John\'s when I arrived. And I met him for the first time
We went thru the gear, organized it some more and then had a nice dinner and beverages and go ready for Saturday morning travel to the mountains

We got up early, loaded up 3 horses and drove to the mountains.

A few hours later we were loading up for the 5 mile trek in...

The plan was to lead the 3 pack horses in, unload the gear and then John\'s wife would ride out, taking all 3 horses back out.
