Pretty sure I know the answer but can\'t for the life of me find it in the regs so figured I\'d ask.

If I have a rifle tag, can I be in possession of 2 legal means of take(rifle and bow) since both are legal for the tag? I know, I know - nobody is going to carry around both in the mountains and if can\'t get within bow range put it down and use rifle. Similar I guess to carrying a .30-30 for deep timber then when break out of timber to an open park switch to 7 mm.

However, it\'s not an unlikely scenario where I hunt in SW CO. It\'s all tree stands on private land so not unrealistic to be able to carry both in and if elk go one way it\'ll be bow but if by chance they head towards the North pasture you\'d better get the rifle out. The stand locations provide good views and just depends which trail they take.

I don\'t think you can but would like to confirm.

Quick answer = yes

But.... only one tag can be a bull tag unless it\'s a C list

And.... since you are in possession of a rifle tag you must wear orange, even tho you have an archery tag

Only one time did I carry 2 weapons during elk season - a bow and a ML.
I wore orange, had an ES archery tag and a ML cow tag.

I did find out quickly it\'s not worth the effort

Brad, I\'ll only have one tag - rifle bull elk. Would like to take with bow but coming from Oklahoma don\'t want one 300 yards to get away!

Russ, I don\'t believe there is any rule stipulating how many weapons you can have on you. For instance, guys carry a pistol all the time while archery hunting. I don\'t see anything wrong with having both of them in a stand with you.
